We took the late afternoon tour and had a great time. Our guide was an archaeologist, and she made all the locations come alive with the history and information she provided. Nothing rote about her interesting, enthusiastic commentary. Would happily take more of their tours.
Our guide Maria was excellent, however, the booking process was difficult and clunky. I repeatedly had to follow up to get responses and the booking confirmed which was frustrating and could have been avoided.
Voula was friendly with a good sense of humour. We had enough short breaks to rest on the way up. Would have preferred if the guides used a mic, as you would miss a few things being explained if you don't keep close. Overall it was fun and well timed.
Our guide Stelios brought the Acropolis to life! Deep knowledge in the mythology and history of the area, as well as current restoration efforts. It was crowded that day but Stelios navigated the area like an expert and the crowds had minimal impact on what we saw and learned. Stelios shared fascinating insights and stories that likely do not make it into standard guide books. Would highly recommend.
We had a perfect tour with Antonia this morning! Our group included two families with babies to grandparents included and Antonia did a fantastic job of setting the pace and checking on the group throughout to make sure everyone was accounted for and doing well with the climb. She provided just the right information (not too much, not too little) and we learned a ton along the way. The meeting spot was in an ideal location - very easy to find!
Great 90 minute tour with Maria! She was very knowledgeable and made for a great tour!
Wonderful tour, great tour guide, early before the crowds and heat got too much Not too long but learned a lot !!
Overall we were so happy to have booked this tour because we would not have experienced the Acropolis in this way on our own. Fun facts along the way and excellent closing remarks about architecture and Athens. The "beat the heat" sunset timing was perfect too for gorgeous photos and just a really cool experience once we finally got to the top! That being said, it just took a little too long to get there. We were there right on time at 4:30pm as the guide "leader" was arriving and started organizing the guides and we didn't start walking over until 4:55pm. That's too long to make people stand around. And I still don't understand why we needed to meet so far from the entrance?--just tell people to use the bathroom ahead of time and bring a water or meet at the 'water purchase' stop. Also, definitely did not need the Greek Mythology lesson at the base...that took way too long and clearly everyone in the group already had this background. Would have preferred more about the construction and history of the Parthenon and the actual place rather than stories about the gods that we already knew. Finally, one person in our group definitely was in tune to the anti-American undertone when our guide referenced the god of war as well--subtle, but not imagined and not necessary given that half the group were Americans...she lost her tip with that gratuitous comment, sorry!
Great experience with our guide "Alternative Athens". Smiling, passionate guide and very interesting information. We learned/ revised Greek mythology while visiting the Acropolis site. Mythology was the guiding thread of the visit, so nice entry into the subject and nice approach for this visit. We are delighted with these 2 hours of visit. Fantastic guide and very good command of French. Thank you.
Really happy that we chose this excellent tour to experience the Acropolis & Parthenon. Our guide was really good, paced thigs well and full of interesting info that helped bring the site to life. Small group size was a blessing too. 2 hrs flew by and whole thing was enjoyable. Would highly recommend.
