The Acadamie was less crowded than we feared and we were able to spend as much time as we wanted viewing not only the Michelangelo David but other unfinished works (the prisoners), Stradivarius instruments, and early piano forte, among other exhibits. Our guide was knowledgeable and engaging.

The guide seemed very knowledgeable but arrived a bit late. Each time I asked the tour operator about the guide they always said “a few minutes”. Therefore we kept thinking they were a few minutes away but were rather 15/20 minutes away which is not a few. We kept thinking we missed our tour guide, therefore, the tour itself but rather they had not yet arrived. Managing expectations needs to be improved.

Our tour guide - Johna- generously shared a wealth of information about Academia, different historic periods of art. The essential part of her lecture was focused on Michelangelo' sculptures, his technique,methods, and his work on David.

Ivano was the best tour guide!!! We have done multiple guided museum tours, and Ivano has been the best by far. He was super kind, funny, and knowledgeable. This was an amazing tour for 2 reasons…first the artwork and David were incredible…and secondly, our tour guide, Laura, was an art history major in college and was able to provide so much insight that you would not great if you just visited on your own.
