"Selon la tradition, l'église principale a été construite à l'endroit où Miadzin est descendu, Etchmiadzin. Dans la vision de Grégoire, le Christ montre la place du temple principal avec un marteau d'or. La plus ancienne cathédrale du monde, fondée en 303, était destinée à devenir un témoin et un participant important de l'histoire du peuple arménien. Étant le centre le plus important du réseau mondial de l'Église arménienne, la cathédrale d'Etchmiadzine est maintenant représentée par une vaste zone, comprenant de nombreuses églises anciennes et nouvelles, des structures profanes, des bibliothèques, un séminaire, etc. »
La série d'églises glorieuses du VIIe siècle se poursuit avec Sainte Gayane, qui a été fondée seulement 12 ans plus tard que Saint Hripsime. Cette église, construite en 630, a été construite sur la tombe d'une vierge chrétienne morte en Arménie à la fin du IIIe et au début du IVe siècle, environ 3 siècles après sa mort. L'église a été restaurée en 1652. Il y a de nombreux cercueils dans la cour, parmi lesquels des personnalités militaires et culturelles célèbres du peuple arménien.
Selon les experts, l'architecture de Saint Hripsime est considérée comme l'un des meilleurs exemples arméniens. Ici, pour la première fois, des niches arméniennes offrant une résistance sismique ont été utilisées. La construction de l'immense église fut achevée en 618, laissant derrière elle un grand héritage architectural, dont les détails sont encore utilisés aujourd'hui.
Malgré sa destruction, Zvartnots continue d'être unique par son importance spirituelle, culturelle et architecturale. Cette immense église nommée d'après les anges avait été construite pendant 9 ans et consacrée en 652. Le magnifique temple d'une hauteur de 46 à 49 mètres a été détruit, probablement à la suite d'un tremblement de terre, après quoi de telles églises n'ont plus été construites en Arménie. L'apparence réelle de Zvartnots fut longtemps inconnue jusqu'à ce que l'architecte T. Toramanian a proposé la forme initiale réelle de l'église, qui a été prouvée plus tard par d'autres faits historiques.

It was good to have a direct transportation to the sights and to have an explanation there. Unfortunately, our guide was far from being motivated for his job or interacting with the group or making an individual approach. Maybe he doesn't like his job. I guess sharing a taxi and having the attractions looked up online would have been a way, too.

Tatev is a very atmospheric place, opened up to us through fog and thick clouds. The cable car sank in the fog, sometimes showing below the amazing landscape. Yegor, our guide, gave a very lively and detailed account of the history of the place. Then we went to Hndzoresk. An unusual place whose history stopped not so long ago. The journey was completed at a work of art created by nature itself - a majestic waterfall.
