Overall it was great but you advertise an air-conditioned mini bus ride. The ride there was excellent the ride back in the bigger mini bus was horrible!! The AC didn't work and after hiking the volcano an AC ride back would have made it perfect. We were sweating profusely in the bus, it was horrible. You need to fix the AC in that thing.
Pompeii moves you for the history, Vesuvius for the nature... an experience absolutely worth doing if you go to Naples...
Really great experience! Our tour guide through Pompei (Berny) was extremely knowledgeable and fun. However, communication on how the day would go was not there. We were questioning each step of the way. A lot of bus and group changes as went from one activity to the other but no real issues.
It was a captivating experience to learn about the history of Pompeii and hike up Mt Vesuvio. Highly recommend!
The ruins in Pompeii are breath taking and incredibly interesting. Our guide took her time and didn’t rush and made it easy for everyone I. The group to stay together. If you go in the late spring to summer beware it is HOT and not much shade. The hike to the caldera of the volcano is difficult with out the proper shoes. The Mounties slope is all sandy ash so steps are easy. The view from the summit is amazing and worth the trek.
We loved the tour of Pompeii which had an excellent guide and was very informative. We thought the pizza lunch was quite average (that's being kind). The vesuvius visit was great and the transfers out and back were comfortable and pleasant. Overall good value for money but not a very gastronomic experience
This was a very good tour. The guide at Pompeii was very knowledgeable and walked us through the city. We then had a nice pizza lunch on the way to Mt Vesuvius. But reminding to guide and driver that four of us had to be back at the cruise ship by six as we seem to be running late. They took there time finishing their food. When we got to the mountain they gave a meet time all but impossible for us to get back in time. We argued with them and ended up leaving the mountain at five for a 45 minute ride. We did make the ship and boarded at 5:55 after being dropped off and running. The driver got us there with aggressive driving Just to put this into perspective, the excursion was to finish at 4:30.
For the end of April a week Naples booked for me and my wife. The city itself is of course an attraction but in the area is also plenty to admire. This trip to Pompeii and the Vesiuvius volcano. The trip consisted of a morning (pompeí) and afternoon part (lunch and and trip to and from Vesiuvius). We were picked up from the hotel Royal Continetal but there where more pick-ups for this tour. Our driver was a friendly Italian who steered the luxury minibus safely through heavy traffic. We deliberately chose to take the trip to Pompeii with a guide. Our guide was a friendly Italian young lady who calmly and comprehensively took care of the explanations. Pompeii was really beautiful to see and special that after almost 2000 years there were still ruins standing. How people lived there and what was technologically possible at that time. In the afternoon we take the minibus up the mountain to our pizza lunch and after lunch we continue to Mount Vesuvius. Last part of a few hundred meters on a gravel path along the volcano up. This was doable on foot with a temperature of 25°C. There were also four moments on the path where you could buy a bottle of water and rest if necessary. From the top of the volcano view of the crater where fumes still come out. And also from the top of the mountain a fantastic view over the Bay of Naples. As a disadvantage I would mention that it is not very cheap (€124 pp) But what is that nowadays.
The experiences themselves were actually amazing and we loved them both. The other positive was our guide around Pompeii who was interesting and informative. On the down side; the pickup was late, we arrived at Pompeii late, the organisation in getting the group together and fitted with head sets took forever, the tour started and ended late, we were late to lunch which then took forever to be served. At this point some of our group who had a deadline to get back to their cruise ship asked the guide to move things along as they were getting increasingly likely to miss their boat. She seemed unconcerned and did not hurry things along but casually finished her meal before slowly rounding up the group. When we finally arrived at Mount Vesuvius she still did not seem to care and, as a result, we left far later than we should and suffered a breakneck ride back into town so our fellow travellers could just get to their boat in time. We jumped out at this point as we had had enough and were already over an hour later than scheduled. Overall, disorganised, disinterested and inconsiderate. We highly recommend these wonderful experiences, just not with this company.
Dear Customer everything was provided as advertised, nothing was cut and everybody was taken back in time as planned. You perceived this as disorganization and instead it is exactly the opposite, our staff didn't seem concerned to convey peace of mind to the guests and because we know exactly what we do, everything was under control all day long. Best regards
Very organized, informative, and got us back to the cruise ship when promised (was only running 30 minutes behind after all stops but still organized a separate van for 7 passengers from Mt. Vesuvius at end of day to arrive at our cruise ship one hour before departure). Highly recommended.
