Description

Visit with a local guide who lives inside the favelas. My husband and I liked it, absolutely not dangerous and well organized.
We bought with Milleviagens, through the always attentive and punctual advice of Gianluca, a 14-day package that allowed us to visit Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Morro de Sao Paulo. Since it is low season at the beginning of autumn we had the opportunity to visit the tourist attractions calmly and without large lines thanks to the work of the guides who followed us step by step. We recommend the tour of the Favela della Rocinha to be able to see with your own eyes a reality very often fictionalized and described in action films.
The tour was very interesting. The guide was inexperienced and really didn’t show/explain much of what we were seeing. For instance, we stopped first at a bar which had a good view of the favela. We were left for too long being expected to buy drinks when we could have had an explanation given of what we were seeing. We didn’t expect to be asked for money at the next stop/exhibit either which was a bit embarrassing. Overall, what we saw us a gave an interesting insight into life in the favela. The conduct and content of the tour could do with some improvement.
Thank you John for your review. We take care of your suggestions. Please note that tha contribution for the exhibit is completely volunteer and helps artists to mantein their exhibit.
During our holiday in Rio de Janeiro we visited the Rocinha Favela through a private excursion with an Italian guide that we found thanks to the search on this site. It's a very interesting visit to help understand what the daily reality of life is for thousands of inhabitants and is undoubtedly to be done once in a lifetime. Our experience was certainly positive and we would recommend this type of tour organized by Milleviagens that has transmitted us security and professionalism.
An experience that makes you think a lot. Milleviagens had assured us that their "Favela Tour" was focused on the possibility of knowing the reality of life of millions of Brazilians in complete safety and so it was. Thanks to this visit we returned home with a personal knowledge of Brazilian society that we recommend to all readers. We thank Gianluca for his kindness towards us in the private transfer from our apartment. Elena and Michele
Our summer holidays 2024 we spent visiting a small part of that immense country which is Brazil. We relied on Milleviagens after several searches on specialized sites for a number of factors, the main of which were the fact that we do not speak Portuguese and that we wanted to be followed and assisted in case of need during our trip by local staff. The choice was also apt thanks to the patience shown by Gianluca and his staff from the estimate stage and throughout the trip. We visited Rio de Janeiro, Foz do Iguaçu, Salvador and the Lençois Maranhaensis and had really fabulous experiences. In Rio, the visit of the Rocinha Favela gave us an up-close look at an urban reality that we did not think was so lively and at the same time difficult to experience.
Integrating with the friendly people. We felt we were one of the same. Our guide introduced us to several street foods and drinks. Our guide was a 6 out of five. The Best!
Thanks to the collaboration of Gianluca from Milleviagens, we organized a trip that touched Brazil, Argentina and Chile. In the Rio de Janeiro stop, in addition to the city tour (very well organised), we also included a visit to the Rocinha favela to try to understand the daily reality of millions of Brazilians. The tour with the guide in Italian is extremely interesting and allows you to see without too many filters what the common life of a part of Rio's population is in safety. We definitely recommend booking such a visit during your stay in Rio,
We have just returned from this wonderful experience with Milleviagens chosen through the reviews here on TripAdvisor The guide Monica picked us up at the hotel and showed us the Rocinha favela in complete safety, also showing us the various social projects that involve this experience. Absolutely recommended to all those who want to understand the complex Carioca reality.
If you want to experience and get to know Rio de Janeiro from a different perspective than usual, if you want to take an extremely particular tour you absolutely must take the tour of the Rocinha favela, the largest in Rio with its 70,000 inhabitants. The favela is not just poverty and degradation but there are also many people who work on social projects and the integration of children into society. Highly recommended
