Description

Very original

A different experience. Highly recommended and it stands out from the ordinary. The treatment from Jose, the owner, and his family was exceptional. The tastings were very good and the food was fabulous. You have to go

Amazing experience

We had a full day with José. We were picked us up from our accommodation in Logroño: we went to two different wineries via beautiful scenic routes, criss-crossing the Rioja wine region. En route José explained the various wine types, the producers (large & small) the sub-sections of the Rioja wine region - including stopping off at a couple of vinyards to taste the grapes - truly fascinating. We then arrived at the bodega he has lovingly restored. The pictures don't do it justice - it's really impressive - and you could see his immense pride at bringing back to life a piece of history. We were then treated to some exquisite food and very generous amounts of wine - within a wine barrel! - before being dropped off back at our accommodation. A simply wonderful experience, I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Highly recommend!

The tour was wonderful and we would highly recommend. Our guide was so knowledgeable. What he and his wife have done to preserve the history of the Rioja should be commended!! Thank you for a great tour!!

A treasure trove of winery with a smell of tradition

An unbeatable experience, both everything that Jose told us, about Rioja wines and the great tasting of their wines, which we had the opportunity to taste along with some exquisite tapas made in his restaurant. Winery with lots of charm and smell of traditions. Out of 10.

Different and great!

This week we've been to the Treasure Cellar, my husband, my kids and I. I have to say that we had visited other wineries and this visit is totally different. If you want to learn about the wine culture of Rioja, with very interesting facts that you probably didn’t know, this is your site. The visit is a pleasure for the senses, and Jose a perfect host. I recommend that you take the visit with the appetizer, as it is truly delicious. Thank you, Josune!!!! I wish we had booked the food too!!! It will be next time!. Thank you. Alicia

An offbeat gem: visit with authentic soul and flavor

If you are looking for a different winery visit, this is your must-see stop. It’s not your typical commercial tour where you’re taught how to make wine a specific brand. Here you immerse yourself in the history, culture of wine and appellation of origin Rioja from a broader, human and passionate perspective. The winery, rescued and restored with pampering, retains all the charm of the family wineries of the 19th century. Its draught, authentic and beautiful, transports you to another time. But the best thing, without a doubt, is who guides the visit: a person with infinite patience, who answers in detail each question without hurry, creating a close, rich and unforgettable experience. The final tasting is delicious: handcrafted wines of limited production, accompanied by an exquisite appetizer prepared by his wife in the wine shop next door, a beautiful space with cozy terrace and lots of character. A complete, authentic and endearing experience. A lovely marriage that conveys love for what you do. Highly recommended for anyone who wants something deeper and more meaningful than a simple sightseeing tour.

Magical Surprise — Don’t Miss It

Unexpected. You show up to a small town to a series of small, unassuming buildings and you expected the experience to be a disappointment. Then you walk in. It is incredibly well maintained, tastefully decorated, and the owner is incredibly welcoming. You descend a few flights of stairs and the next thing you know you are in the Barrel room — both the winery and the barrel room date from the 18th century. You enjoy the chill and the information. Pop goes a barrel and you taste a sample of a small production. Limited quantities. It whets your appetite for more. Next stop is the Vinoteca with samples of other small productions and nibbles of homemade appies. The proprietor is a wealth of knowledge, is extremely welcoming, and graciously welcomes you into the experience that is La Bodega.

Dinner in a wine barrel? YUP!

Not a traditional vineyard but a rescued 800 year old wine cellar. Jose gives a history of the region and really does a great job explaining how large and small wine makers produce great wines. We had the dinner experience and Jose and his wife could not have been friendlier. Food was great and we tried a number of different wines. An experience like no other. How many times can you have dinner in a wine barrel? After dinner we joined them and their friends in the bar area and the night continued. Highly recommended!

Super recommended!

Visit highly recommended. A different way to see a Rioja Winery. My recommendation of course is to make the global visit staying to eat, take advantage of its facilities and taste the zero km menu that they prepare so carefully, a wonder in an environment of 10!!! Great hosts who make you feel like your home.
