Nous commençons la promenade dans la vallée d'Andorre, nous traverserons une tourbière et longerons la rivière. Ces zones humides sont aujourd’hui des sites RAMSAR, des milieux protégés au niveau international. Ici, nous apprenons à interpréter le lieu et ses environs, ayant le privilège d'être là en tant que protagonistes. En entrant dans la forêt andine patagonienne indigène, l'ascension commence, où des pentes abruptes se combinent avec des sections plates. Le terrain est montagneux, donc selon la météo, il peut y avoir de la boue, de la neige ou le sentier peut être sec. La forêt nous raconte l'histoire des hommes à la hache qui exploitaient il y a des décennies le lieu et ses ressources. La montée dure 2h30 et il est important de maintenir un rythme constant.

This is not an esay hike and I'm happy I got a guide for this one because with all the mud (up to your knees in some sections) and ice, I'm happy I had someone with experience who can lead the way and assure my safety. My guide Tobias was excellent and taught us about nature and wildlife of the area. The tour agency was very professional, they offer equipment rental and gave each participant for the hike - breakfast, lunch and a snack.

We have booked the activity for December 14. On the 2 days before, while doing other activities, we have met other travelers and other tour guides that told us that the ice caves are closed already for long time due to an access issue and potential collapse. They told us that it is a known issue. Also, due to the weather, the track/trail was not accessible. We realized that there was nothing left to do, other than purpose less walking, as others already told us. As a result, we have contacted the local operator and switched to a different activity : "Night Trekking to Mount Susana" and that one was great. We feel that we have been sold something that was known to be not operational .
A beautiful walk up to the lagoon and glacier. However, it was very expensive considering there was no walking on the glacier, which was not made clear beforehand. And whilst the guide was very friendly, he didn't add much to the experience. It wouldn't have been difficult to organise the actual walk by ourselves had we known there was no actual "ice trekking".
The tour and our guide were really great. However, it is worth noting the seasons, as the glacier is not always accessible. We were there in mid-November and the crevasses and caves were all covered with snow, so an ascent was Too dangerous.

It was a great experience! First of all the organization by Taun Ushuaia team was excellent, with all the necessary information in advance with a minimal number of messages (really appreciated). And we were very lucky to have Joaquin as our guide! We were a small group of 3 people and he very smoothly guided us on a snowy mountain trek! Always respecting our pace, giving us tips on how to trek more effectively, and explaining the majestic landscape around us (the plants, glaciers, etc.). Important to say that me and my partner had very little experience in trekking (actually only hiking). Physical condition is good but still it was a completely new experience for us. Thank you Taun Ushuaia and Joaquin for this experience. We totally reccommend it!
