Description
La Basse-Autriche est le berceau de la viticulture autrichienne, nous voulons donc vous emmener dans les magnifiques forêts et vignobles de la région thermale, juste au sud de Vienne. Abritant des villages viticoles traditionnellement pittoresques et des cépages locaux uniques, nous présentons les meilleurs circuits viticoles autrichiens de la ferme à la table. En été, nous marcherons à travers ces contreforts jusqu'aux Alpes le long de sentiers forestiers, ainsi qu'à travers des vignobles verdoyants sur leurs pentes exposées au sud. Nous nous arrêterons en cours de route pour apprécier des vues magnifiquement étendues sur la canopée forestière et le bassin de Vienne vers la Hongrie et la Slovaquie, avant d'atteindre l'un des plus anciens villages viticoles d'Autriche pour le déjeuner et une visite de cave. En hiver, au lieu de la randonnée, nous visitons deux établissements vinicoles pour concentrer davantage notre attention sur l'histoire de la vinification de la région thermale et sur la rencontre avec un vigneron local pour en savoir plus sur la production de vin moderne - le tout avec des verres des meilleurs de la région. a à offrir entre nos mains, bien sûr !

Itinéraire
Le point de rendez-vous de la visite est la gare de Vienne 'Wien Mitte' (09:00 entre avril-oct & 09:30 à partir de nov-mars). Une fois que nous nous serons rencontrés et présentés, nous monterons à bord d'un train vers le sud (environ 30 minutes) jusqu'au cœur des bois de Vienne.
Été Nous commençons notre randonnée dans la charmante ville thermale de Baden, autrefois l'une des retraites préférées de Beethoven. Nous parcourons le centre du village classique et ses magnifiques parcs avant de parcourir des sentiers forestiers en direction d'un magnifique point de vue surélevé qui surplombe le bassin de Vienne et le Wienerwald dans toutes les directions. Cet endroit à lui seul est le rêve d'un photographe ! Nous entrons ensuite dans les vignes, déambulant entre rangées et rangées de vignes verdoyantes. En récompense de nos efforts, nous ferons une pause au milieu des vignes pour une dégustation de vins en plein air. Hiver Notre train nous amène directement aux vignobles de la région thermale et à l'une des plus anciennes institutions viticoles d'Autriche, ancrée dans la tradition et l'histoire du Moyen-Âge. Nous découvrirons comment les ordres monastiques sont devenus des pionniers du vin de leur époque, développerons une compréhension de ce qui a façonné le paysage viticole autrichien au fil du temps et réfléchirons dans quelle direction il peut évoluer... nous en discuterons lors de notre première dégustation de vins bien sûr !
Été hiver Nous continuons ensuite vers le pittoresque village viticole de Gumpoldskirchen pour déjeuner dans l'une de ses tavernes à vin autrichiennes traditionnelles. Le point culminant de la journée est une dégustation de vin l'après-midi, qui a lieu chez l'un des meilleurs producteurs du village et est dirigée par un vigneron local. Cette dégustation offre de nombreuses occasions de poser des questions sur la façon dont le vin est produit et de donner un aperçu intime des défis auxquels sont confrontés les vignerons d'aujourd'hui. La visite se termine par un court trajet en train pour retourner au centre-ville. Vous arriverez à votre hôtel à temps pour vous rafraîchir avant le dîner, l'opéra, le théâtre ou le concert ! Quoi qu'il en soit, vous dormirez bien cette nuit-là !

- La majorité de l'itinéraire d'hiver est à l'intérieur, il y a une promenade douce de 20 minutes à travers les vignobles plats que nous nous déplaçons entre les villages, donc ne habillez-vous chaudement pour cela.

This was one of the great experiences of our trip. The weather was perfect, the vineyards were dressed in their beautiful fall colors, the hike was uphill in the beginning and then once into the vineyards, it was mostly level. James is a fantastic guide and checked the pace with us several times (we're old and able to keep up). James informed us about various sites and is well-informed about this area of Austria and its vineyards, winemakers, and regional wines. Topped off with a wonderful lunch and a private wine tasting at Weingut Biegler. We just enjoyed a Biegler Pinot Noir last night. Highly recommend that you book this tour.
My family and I had a truly memorable experience on this tour. We saw amazing views of the Austrian countryside, walked through actual working vineyards, ate some great local cuisine, and tasted some delicious local wine during a tasting hosted by the owner himself sitting in his beautiful courtyard. What made the day truly special though was our guide (James). He took the time to talk to all four of us, shared tons of facts about the region and the wine (as well as his own personal stories), and provide top-notch translation at the winery. He made sure that we were enjoying ourselves and made us feel like we were talking to an old friend. The only caution is that the five+ mile hike contains some steep uphill and downhill sections, so be prepared for that. We would highly recommend this tour!
Had an amazing time at this tour. James the guide was awesome, and the woods and the vineyards were amazing even though I got a sunburn (so dont forget your sunscreen!). The second part - the wine tasting - was also great and I'm not even a wine person! This tour, the views, and the whole experience will stay in my memory for a long time (I think its gonna be my new 'happy place'), and I definitely recommend it! Thank you James and everyone who's been in our group!
My husband and I did the Vienna Woods Hiking and Wine Tour and we loved it! James was our tour guide and he was very knowledgeable and friendly. We met in the morning and rode the train with James and the group to Baden where our hike started. Our group was small, which made the tour feel intimate and exclusive. James was able to give each of us individual attention, answering questions and ensuring that everyone felt included and engaged. The views were beautiful and we learned a lot about the local culture, the towns we hiked through, vineyards, the art of wine making, and the final product itself. We 100% recommend this AMAZING experience!
James was incredible! He met us at the train station, and we rode a train 30 minutes to this adorable little town outside Vienna. He was knowledgeable and really made us feel comfortable during the trip. We went in the winter so we didn't do the hike and instead he planned a second wine tasting for us! Which I rather prefer anyway! I would definitely recommend booking this tour. Totally worth it to see the country outside of the main city.
I booked this as a way to take advantage of glorious weather, taste some new wine and get out of the city on our longer trip. James was amazing- he met us bang on time and took care of everything. He was thoughtful, prepared, informative and funny. We had a short train trip during which he set the stage , explained the geography and characteristics of the wine region and set expectations for the walk and festivities. We disembarked in a storybook town, saw some historical points of interest and started our walk through some lovely woods. The walk was glorious with some slightly challenging parts- wear good shoes- but nothing six middle aged relatively fit people couldnt handle. We reached the high point quickly and then ambled agreeably through the vineyards, towards our lunch and tasting spot. The path is lovely, dotted with heurige tables and little spots where people drink in the summer. We had a fabulous Austrian lunch in a beautiful courtyard, complete with dog welcoming committee and then proceeded to a orovate tasting. Our winemaker host was informative and we really enjoyed his chemistry with his guests and his wine! James translated and provided very knowledgeable and accessible , unpretentious commentary. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and left with two boxes of wine packed for travel and a mission to return. Worth every penny and a splendid way to spend a day! Highly recommend!

James was fantastic! He did an incredible job of providing information and guiding us throughout the day. It was a truly unique opportunity to explore the Austrian woods and have a one of a kind wine tasting!
Went with zero expectations. First impression was amazing with on the dot pickup at the spot by the charming enthusiastic guide James and 5 handpicked team mates. James took us through the woods a 2 hour trek which was a cakewalk due to his constant motivating words. Then after a brief downhill stroll came to the actual vineyards. A very splendid sight of acres and acres of grapes Fahrenheit and black perfect and ready to be picked. After an hour of walk drenched in this splendor came to the most beautiful lunch place, literally ate under the vines. Finally came the much awaited Wine tasting. A warm humble host welcomed us into his home and served us each of his creation with utmost sincerity and affection. Amidst a very cozy pleasant chatter we relished each of the wines and tried to experience a little of the passion of its creator!!! After this 6,7 hour long magic we dispersed dizzy with content and of course the wine inside and in our hands. I sincerely recommend this tour for any one looking for the most amazing wine tasting experience!! Mr. James is an excellent guide anyone would be at ease with!!
