Description

Les meilleures parties de Venise sont toujours les plus secrètes et les plus inattendues. A mon sens, "voyager" signifie "découvrir".

The Real Story of Venice.

Nadia’s walking tour is not one for tourists but, as she said, for the travellers who wish to experience, even though fleetingly, what it is like to be a Venetian in Venice. To experience the sights, sounds and enticing aromas which makes up the ancient patina of this magnificent maritime city. Nadia gave a historic overview of Venice which was entertaining and informative. We learned so much in such a short time. Nadia knows and loves her “miracle city’ well. And I feel fortunate she shared its secrets with us while wandered through its beauty along Calle after Calle unimpeded by the tourists. Grazie mille Nadia.

Dear Juanita, Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind words. The true purpose of my tours is to reveal a Venice that is often misunderstood, a city that many people look at without ever truly seeing. Today, many visitors experience Venice at a fast pace, moving from one landmark to another without having the chance to discover the quieter details that give the city its soul. Venice deserves more than that. It deserves time, curiosity, and respect. It is a city that reveals itself slowly: in a quiet calle, in the aroma drifting from an old workshop, in the reflection of water dancing on an ancient façade, or in a story passed down through generations. This is why I am especially grateful when I meet travellers like you, people who wish to go beyond the surface and experience Venice in a more authentic way. I am always happy when travellers carry a little of Venice with them after their visit. I hope the Venice you discovered will stay with you and perhaps inspire others to experience the city with the same curiosity and openness. Thank you for walking with me and for choosing to experience my city with such openness and curiosity. With gratitude, Nadia @friendinvenice

Venice tour with Nadia

Nadia was awesome. We had a great time. She took us "off the beaten path" and away from the crowds. She was very knowledgeable, and it was nice to get a local's perspective. She modifies the tour for the client and is not limited to the same tour as everyone else. We will definitely book her again for the next trip.

Dear Cris, Thank you so much for your kind words and for choosing to explore Venice with me. I never take for granted the trust my guests place in me when they choose to spend part of their trip with me. I am truly grateful for that trust, and I always feel a strong responsibility to offer something meaningful in return. My hope is always to offer an experience that allows visitors to slow down, look beyond the crowds, and discover Venice with curiosity and depth. It was a real pleasure to guide you, and I’m happy that you allowed yourselves to be surprised by the city. I hope to welcome you again in Venice for even more authentic and unforgettable moments. Warm regards, Nadia @friendinvenice

Best tour of Venice, Murano and Burano

Nadia was an excellent tour guide. Being a local, she was able to navigate us around the crowds thus affording up the opportunity to see more of the sights without the hustle and bustle. The water taxi tour around hidden canals of Venice, the Murano gallery experience and the walkthrough Burano were fabulous! She booked a table for lunch at Burano and the meal experience was exceptional! I highly recommend Nadia as a tour guide when n the area.

Dear Alina, Thank you so much for your beautiful words. Visiting the glass factory I carefully chose for you is truly a unique experience, far from the usual tourist routes. Even for us Venetians, who should be “used to it,” every visit still feels special, because each piece created there is a new work of art. Burano is simply beautiful, but to truly understand its soul, it should also be discovered away from the busiest tourist paths. Sometimes, all it takes is a small change in perspective to enjoy a completely different experience and create memories that stay with you forever. It was a pleasure sharing these moments with you, and I truly hope to see you again in Venice. Baci baci, Nadia

Dear Margaret, They say “a friend in need is a friend indeed,” and I was truly glad I could be there for you both. My only regret is that we didn’t have enough time to explore more of my city together. You and your husband have stayed in my thoughts. We really shared a unique experience together. Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. I hope to see you again soon. Baci baci, Nadia FriendinVenice

Fun guide and tour

Nadia was a fun guide who showed us ways to avoid the huge crowds and enjoy Venice. We had a great time strolling through Venice with her.

Dear Friend, Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. I know that once you’re back home, it’s not always easy to pause and do it, so I truly appreciate it. Friend in Venice is a small business that grows through word of mouth and reviews like yours. In Venice, we don’t have car traffic, but we do have “people traffic.” People often stop on bridges or in narrow streets for photos, which can create little traffic jams. There is another side of Venice, away from the crowds, that reveals itself to those who are curious enough to explore it. Instead of showing a museum-like version of the city, I want you to experience the real Venice, welcoming you as guests and travelers rather than just tourists. I am so happy that your experience was enjoyable and felt special. Thank you for trusting Friend in Venice. Warm regards, Nadia

Amazing Morning with Nadia!

We loved our tour with Nadia. It was one of the best tours we experienced on our trip. We got to see so many things that most tourist miss. And Nadia took some of the most amazing pictures during the private boat portion of the tour. We learned so much about Venice. Anyone who takes this tour will walk away with an unique appreciation of the city.

Dear Friend Thank you so much for taking the time to write this lovely review. I know how busy life gets once a holiday is over, which makes your kind words even more meaningful to me. Your review doesn’t just support my small business, it also helps other travelers who are looking for a more authentic way to experience Venice. I’m so happy you chose to see the city from the water and away from the usual paths. Venice can feel peaceful and intimate when you know where to go. Sometimes all it takes is turning into a quiet calle to find yourself completely alone, even in a city people often call crowded. There are two ways to visit Venice, as a tourist or as a traveler. Thank you for choosing to be a traveler, and thank you for choosing Friend in Venice. I truly hope to see you again one day. Warm regards, Nadia

A new appreciation for Venice

Nadia was a terrific guide. She is knowledgeable and passionate about her city and her heritage. "Don't be a tourist. Be a traveler" and take a tour with her. You'll have a different appreciation for the city, it's history, and the remarkable way it was built all those centuries ago. She also has great recommendations for dining and shopping that are not touristy.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. Before tourists, selfies, and cruise ships, there was a completely different Venice: a maritime empire that controlled routes, wealth, and secrets for centuries. During my tours, we explore the hidden history of the Republic of Venice: its military power, its political influence, and how it went from ruling the world to becoming just another tourist attraction. What remains today of that forgotten power? What was Venice like before tourism? We walk through maps, documents, and recreated scenes to relive the splendor of a Venice that almost no one remembers anymore. As I always say, I encourage people to be travelers, not tourists, in order to gain a deeper and more meaningful understanding of this city. Of course, I’m happy to share where we Venetians eat. But above all, remember my first piece of advice: never enter places where they invite you in. If they need to invite you, it usually means they aren’t busy. The same rule applies to shopping. Unfortunately, there is far too much junk souvenir culture driven by bad tourist habits. If people stop buying from these places, they will gradually be forced to close…and that is how Venice can slowly regain some dignity. With all my love, Nadia

A great excursion- worth every Euro.

Nadia was a pleasure to be with. My wife and I specifically wanted to start with the Jewish Ghetto, and her knowledge about it, from its origin to today, was thorough and illuminating. She took us into shops we would never have thought to enter and the people inside gave us added insight into the history of the Ghetto. From there, we stopped to have a break for a cold drink and pastry - which she paid for (it was pretty hot), and she gave us a history lesson about Venice, from its founding to the present, that was terrific. We then worked our way off the beaten tourist paths, through side streets, that gave us a view of how the people of Venice lived that we would never have walked through. We ended with "her treating us" to a ride on the Grand Canal back to St Mark's plaza.

Dear Traveler, I cannot thank you enough for this review. I deeply care about telling the history of the Jewish people. The experience of the Ghetto is a central and painful chapter of Venice’s past, and one that must be understood. The Venetian Ghetto is not just a historic neighborhood. It represents a crucial turning point in the cultural and social history of the Western world. To understand modern history, one must understand Venice, and to understand Venice, one must understand the Ghetto. Walking through the Ghetto, with its narrow streets and its monuments, including the Holocaust Memorial, offers a powerful lesson in history, resilience, and tolerance. This lesson reaches far beyond the borders of Venice. Knowing history is essential, so that the same mistakes are never repeated. Thank Baci baci Nadia

Great experience

Nahdia is the best - very knowledgeable, caring, warm and helpful. We learned a lot about Venice, its history and way of life. Thank you for treating 84 y o our mom so well!

Dear Zachary, Meeting your 84-year-old mother was truly an honor for me. I wanted to cherish every moment with her because, sadly, I no longer have my own mother. Seeing an 84-year-old woman who is so beautiful, strong, and full of life is deeply inspiring. She is a wonderful example to follow. Please give her my warmest greetings and tell her that I send her so much love. I absolutely love spending time with elderly people and with children. I truly believe I learn so much from them, every single time. Thank you again for your kind words. Baci baci Nadia

Fantastic intro to Venice!

Nadia was a wonderful tour guide! We learned so much about Venice, it's history, culture, and people! She was so warm and welcoming and we felt so comfortable after our tour with her! We highly recommend Nadia and this tour!

Thank you so much for this beautiful review. I must confess that I had been looking forward to meeting you ever since you booked the tour. I know I am not a typical, formal, or distant guide. My approach is to surprise my guests, to truly understand them, and to personalize each tour as much as possible. I also try to welcome people in a way that makes them want to return, or at least think fondly about coming back and seeing me again. My goal is to help you understand how Venetians managed to build such a unique city with no local materials, having to import everything. Venice was born out of desperation, and only by staying united did its people succeed in creating something so beautiful, important, and unique. It truly is a miracle, and a miracle that belongs to all of humanity. See you soon, and please keep in touch. Baci baci Nadia
