We attended the "Vienna Underworld – with a Spooky Factor" tour with a total of nine people and were unfortunately very disappointed. Right from the start, it was noticeable that instead of the announced 10–15 people, there were about 25 participants. Our tour guide Bella seemed very strict and not very friendly from the beginning. Right at the start, she explained that anyone who wasn't interested could also leave the tour. Because of that, we didn't feel particularly welcome as guests. When I asked how many meters we were underground, I got the answer: "That's a stupid question." I found such a reaction inappropriate and disrespectful. Throughout the rest of the tour, participants were also reprimanded in a harsh tone for minor things—such as a watch lighting up or brief conversations. A friendlier and more appreciative approach would have been desirable here. What also disappointed us a lot: We had booked an underworld tour and expected to spend the majority of the time underground. In fact, however, we spent about half of the tour on the surface and walked longer distances on foot. Especially with the high temperatures, that was very exhausting. After the tour, we talked with other participants, and several people expressed the same disappointment. Many had expected significantly more from the tour and, in particular, more time in the underworld. The parts of the underworld that we saw were certainly interesting. Unfortunately, however, they only made up about half of the entire tour. At 45 € per person, we feel this tour is significantly overpriced. From our perspective, the description should clearly point out that about half of the tour takes place on the surface. Then guests can better decide whether the tour meets their expectations. The idea of the tour is exciting, but unfortunately the implementation and especially the style of the tour by Bella did not convince us. Overall, we all expected significantly more from this tour.
Was probably great for german speakers but English speakers were audio guide. Information and audio guide was very good. Underground area was interesting. I feel the audio guide tour should have been cheaper than the personally guided tour so value for me was not there. If i could do over i would pay more for private guide in English.
Exciting insights into the history of Vienna's underworld.
A fascinating journey through the history – and the historic walls – of the Viennese cellar worlds. Our eloquent guide Alec impressed with knowledge, wit and a good shot of Wiener Schmäh. This guided tour is for anyone who wants to see what impressive structures humans created underground some 400 years ago – without modern technology, but with incredible skill and perseverance. Thank you for this wonderful experience!
