Description

Devils pulpit

Great experience! You definitely need to be fit to do this excursion. I would also recommend wearing hiking boots and pants you can easily roll up. You will get wet!

Not happt

This was the ONLY bad experience we had in Scotland. The guide seemed to be in a hurry from the moment he picked us up. The write up on this was nothing like the experience. I am seasoned hiker, but no where did it describe the conditions of the downhill and return up climb. No where did we see that to do the entire trip we had to walk barefoot in water, or bring a towel. When we declined to do so, the guide was pushy about taking photos and then leaving. Then he offerred (for more money of course) to take us to a waterfall. Since we felt we had used less then 2 hrs of our 3 hr tour, that this was uncalled for. I would really think again how you advertise this and I am questioning anything else I will ever book with your site.

We are sorry you were surprised by the tour, but this is entirely due to not reading the detailed tour description carefully beforehand. The itinerary clearly states that this is a forest adventure tour involving physical activities, including descending in the middle of the woods to more challenging terrain. Such elements are explicitly part of the experience. The water section is entirely optional. The majority of participants choose to do it because the scenery is spectacular, but no one is forced to participate. This is an outdoor forest adventure tour, not a relaxed city sightseeing trip. If someone is not in adequate physical condition or has no interest in active, nature-based activities, we strongly recommend booking a city tour instead. This tour is designed for guests who are reasonably fit and have at least some experience with a sporty, active lifestyle. The pace of the group depends solely on the fitness level and adventurous spirit of the participants. The tour guide cannot be held responsible if a guest is unable to complete the activities they booked. We explicitly advise against booking this type of tour if you are not accustomed to physical exertion. Regarding the tour guide offering to take photos for solo travelers or family groups: this is an act of kindness and helpfulness, not impropriety. We do not understand how such a gesture can be interpreted negatively. We stand by our tour descriptions and expect our guests to read them thoroughly before booking. This ensures everyone has realistic expectations and an enjoyable experience.

Don't book it

We booked the tour. Then they cancelled it and emailed me due to them saying my credit card didn't work. So, I rebooked it about a week or so later. After I paid for it, then I asked about transportation to the meeting point and I was told it's not included. So, I told her to cancel it right after I booked it and she said it was not possible. So, I went to look on my credit card statement a few days later and found that they did charge me for the one they cancelled! So I called them back and told them and they said it was refunded but they still would not cancel the one I rebooked. I went to look at reviews. Very few in 2026 and only a handful in 2025. 2 or 3 were 1 or 2 stars and the people did not feel safe and got sick due to the unsafe driving and speed of driver. This was another reason I called again to get a refund. So I do not recommend this company. And I still don't have a refund.

Dear Mary, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your experience. However, we feel it is important to clarify a few key points. Our company does not handle or process payment transactions (including credit card issues) and we do not reject confirmed bookings. Any issues with your credit card were solely between you and your bank. We have no involvement in or visibility of payment declines. Furthermore, all essential details about the tour — including the meeting point, transportation, and program schedule — are clearly stated in the tour description and booking confirmation. Transportation is included in the price. It appears these details were not carefully reviewed before the tour. Your review focuses primarily on payment difficulties rather than the actual tour itself, its organization, or the experience provided. We regret this, as it makes it difficult for us to understand your opinion of the tour program. While we take every review seriously, we would like to note that the vast majority of our guests leave 5-star reviews, praising both the organization and the quality of the tour. We kindly recommend reading the full tour description carefully before booking in the future and contacting your bank directly regarding any payment issues. Thank you for choosing us. We hope you will join us again under better circumstances and fully enjoy the experience.

Fantastic

Fantastic experience, well supervised by our guide Ferenc. He knew how to accompany us in a very safe way to access Devil’s pulpit. Unforgettable

A great place but not quite easy to find

My girlfriend was in Devil's Pulpit a few years ago and was absolutely thrilled. When we were there this year, the steep stone staircase had collapsed. It has rained before, the stones were quite smooth and the descent appeared to us, on the 2nd. Day of our vacation, then too risky. Too bad... we would have liked to see it. The forest and gorge from above, but has also been worth seeing.

Breathtaking

One of the most beautiful places I’ve seen. The guide was very safety conscious and gave us a most informed tour. We took many photos, the scenery was fantastic. I highly recommend this tour.

A Must-See Destination With Some Room for Improvement

The experience itself was truly amazing, and the scenery at the Devil’s Pulpit is something you absolutely don’t want to miss. The guide provided the basic information needed for the hike and was helpful in showing us how to go down the trail safely and make our way back up. However, we arrived early and tried contacting the provided number but received no response. In addition, the driving style was quite fast and aggressive with heavy braking, which caused motion sickness for some of us—even though we normally never experience that. Overall, despite some issues, the Devil’s Pulpit is an unforgettable location and well worth visiting.

We regret that you were surprised by the road conditions, but this is a direct consequence of not reading the tour description thoroughly before booking. Our tours take place in the Scottish forest roads, where narrow, winding forest and mountain roads are the standard — not wide American-style highways. These roads are clearly characteristic of the region and are explicitly part of the experience. The fact that vehicles occasionally need to pull over to let oncoming traffic pass, sometimes with limited space, is completely normal in Scotland and does not constitute a safety issue. This is how local roads are, especially on routes through forests, mountains, and valleys. There are no alternative wide roads for these tours, nor would they make sense for the destinations we visit. Weather in Scotland is unpredictable and cannot be controlled by us. Rain is very common here and is a natural part of the experience — not a catastrophe. This is an outdoor adventure tour in rugged Scottish nature, not a comfortable city sightseeing trip. We strongly advise anyone who is not comfortable with narrow roads, active driving conditions, or variable weather to book a city-based tour instead. Guests who are unfamiliar with or unwilling to accept these typical Scottish conditions should not book this type of tour. We stand by our tour descriptions and expect customers to read them carefully in advance. This helps ensure realistic expectations and the right fit for everyone involved.

Hidden Gem found and conquered and glad to be alive.

And unmarked black minivan pulls up and asks hey did you guys book a tour for today? Which two are you looking for? Without thinking I answered the hike to the devil's pulpit and he says oh yeah this is it let's go. Probably best if a tour guide states your name and what two are you're looking for in hindsight we got in a van with someone who didn't confirm who he was or who I was. My mistake, but best if a tour guide knows how to approach people. The guide from Budapest was very friendly very informational and an all-around great tour guide. But his driving skills have a little improvement to be had. We literally thought we were going to die by the hands of a crazy driver. The tour felt rushed but he was very informational and knew his tour. The tour was short and sweet and not quite worth a hundred euro.

The Devil's Pulpit guided hike

Guide was friendly and had a good chat along the way. Knowledgeable of the area and destination, and it was a great experience visiting The Devil's Pulpit. Very beautiful and it was fun walking through the stream to get obscure photos of the waterfalls.
