La forme allongée et légèrement incurvée du lac de Zurich ressemble à une banane. Le lac mesure environ 28 kilomètres de Rapperswil à Zurich
Le Walensee est un lac des Préalpes orientales de la Suisse et se situe dans les cantons de Saint-Gall et de Glaris.
Sargans est situé à l'intersection de l'Alpenrheintal, qui s'incurve ici du sud-est au nord-est, et du Seeztal, qui relie la vallée de l'Alpenrhein au lac de Zurich sans différence d'altitude significative.
Coire est une ville des Alpes et la capitale du canton des Grisons en Suisse orientale. Dans la vieille ville piétonne, des rues sinueuses mènent à la cathédrale de l'Assomption de la Vierge Marie à trois nefs du XIIIe siècle dans la cour du palais épiscopal. Ici commence le voyage Glacier Express.
La Ruinaulta ou gorge du Rhin est une gorge pouvant atteindre 400 mètres de profondeur et environ 13 kilomètres de long dans le Vorderrhein entre Ilanz et l'embouchure de l'Hinterrhein près de Reichenau dans le canton des Grisons
Ilanz/Glion est une petite ville de la commune d'Ilanz/Glion dans la région de Surselva du canton suisse des Grisons
La station thermale et de sports d'hiver est située dans la partie supérieure de la Surselva. À la fin du XVIIe siècle, un nouveau complexe monastique a été construit dans le style baroque. Le train Glacier Express s'y arrête pendant 10 minutes
Le col de l'Oberalp relie les villages de Sedrun dans la Surselva dans le canton des Grisons à Andermatt dans la vallée d'Urseren dans le canton d'Uri en Suisse
Andermatt est un village de la vallée d'Ursen dans les Alpes suisses. Le téléphérique emmène les visiteurs au domaine skiable de Gemsstock et un télésiège relie le village aux pistes plus faciles du Nätschen. Au nord d'Andermatt, l'un des nombreux sentiers de randonnée mène au Teufelsbrücke au-dessus des gorges de Schöllenen. Le train Glacier Express s'y arrête pendant 10 minutes.
Le tunnel de base de la Furka est un tunnel ferroviaire de 15,38 km ouvert en 1982, reliant Oberwald dans le canton du Valais et Realp dans le canton d'Uri. Le tunnel de base remplace l'ancienne route de montagne de la Furka.
Oberwald est le premier village au début du Goms. Il se trouve au pied du col de la Furka et des cols alpins du Grimsel. Le hameau de Gletsch, qui n'est pas habité toute l'année, et le glacier du Rhône sont également situés sur le territoire de l'ancienne commune d'Oberwald.
La partie la plus élevée de la vallée du Haut-Valais entre la source du Rhône et l'étape de la vallée de Grengiols près de Brigue s'appelle Goms. C'est la partie la plus orientale du canton du Valais. À l'est, il est limité par le col de la Furka entre Galenstock et Pizzo Rotondo et à l'ouest par le Weisshorn. La partie la plus élevée de la vallée s'appelle encore Obergoms.
Brigue est une ville alpine du canton du Valais dans le sud de la Suisse. Il se trouve au pied du col du Simplon, qui mène à la frontière italienne. Arrêt du train Glacier Express, Brigue est connue pour ses thermes, la chapelle Sebastian et le château Stockalper du XVIIe siècle. À Brigue, vous quittez le train Glacier Express et après la visite de la ville, vous retournez à votre point de départ d'origine en train interurbain régulier. De Brigue à Berne, il faut une heure, de Berne à Zurich/Bâle ou Lucerne une autre heure.
Le tunnel de base du Lötschberg est un tunnel ferroviaire de 34,6 kilomètres qui traverse sous la chaîne alpine du nord au Lötschberg entre Frutigen dans l'Oberland bernois (canton de Berne, Suisse) et Rarogne (canton du Valais, Suisse) et a été mis en service en 2007. Ce tunnel de base fait partie de l'axe Lötschberg-Simplon de la nouvelle liaison ferroviaire à travers les Alpes (NRLA), qui va de Bâle via Berne-Thoune-Spiez au Lötschberg et via Brigue-Simplon-Domodossola à Milan et Novare-Gênes, et à côté de celui parallèle à l'axe du Gothard, forme une seconde voie pour le trafic ferroviaire transalpin de fret du Corridor européen (Rotterdam-Gênes).
Le lac de Thoune est un lac de fjord situé dans l'Oberland bernois, à la limite nord des Alpes.
Berne est appelée la "ville fédérale" et fonctionne comme la capitale de la Suisse. En tant que siège de la ville et de grandes parties de l'administration cantonale et fédérale, c'est le plus grand centre d'administration publique du pays.

Domenico was fabulous. This whole experience was so unique and special. I highly recommend it. We started in Chur which is so charming. The panoramic train was so fun and the views were phenomenal. We ended in Brig which is also very charming. We then took the resin back to Zurich. Domenico was knowledgeable, fun and charming as well.
Amazing views, a must-do in the Swiss Alps. Beautiful scenery, fantastic service. Yes, it's slow moving but that is part of the experience. Order food in advance, guarantees you get what you want quickly.

It was an incredible experience of trip to ZURICH, Switzerland, and I highly suggest everyone to embark on the Glacier Express journey at least once in their lifetime. Witnessing the breathtaking Alps up close from the comfort of the train as it winds its way along the mountain peaks is truly awe-inspiring. Our tour guide, Michael Myers, was just exceptional, serving as a knowledgeable and friendly companion throughout the trip. Exploring the quaint Swiss villages in CHUR and BRIG on foot was a serene experience, with lush greenery and meticulously maintained wooden houses adding to the charm of the surroundings of great mountains touching Northern Italy and Austria. Enjoyed the experience with my partner who celebrated his 50th birthday. It was a gift so I ordered a cake unfortunately one of the waiter's on the train ruined the suprise as soon as we say down. This upset me and ruined the day but the train journey itself was a success

For a train that requires a travel ticket and a £40 seat reservation, the scenery and quality of the coach is amazing; but that’s where it stops. The locomotive wasn’t branded, and looked out of place, some of the waiting staff were abrupt, boarding rude and there was no milk available meaning no cappuccino, hot chocolate or white coffee was available half way through the journey- disappointing
Hello You are reflecting the Glacier Express train but not our tour. Pity, that we don't get a feedback about our service and you mention weird details like a "not branded locomotive" or that there was no milk available. You mentioned, that it was half-way, that results the other half-way it was available. Would like to have your luxury problems.
Our guide, Michael, was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, accommodating and great company. We particularly appreciated our walking tours of Chur and Brig whilst we waited for our trains. The scenery on the express itself was mind-blowing, and it was amazing to think that we travelled over the headwaters of both the Rhine and Rhône. We saw so much of Switzerland in a single day. The food on the express was good, although it was disappointing to learn that our dietary requirements (specified when I booked on the Viator site) had not been passed on to Glacier Express catering. Despite this rather unsatisfactory lapse, we still say 5 stars - mostly due to Michael and the scenery. Vielen dank, Michael!

We took the Glacier Express from Andermatt to Saint Moritz and returned the next day to Andermatt. We left the car in Andermatt. The car park to use overnight is located underneath the Radisson Hotel. Walking time from the car park to the train station is about 5 mins. Not far at all. For the Glacier Express you need to reserve in advance and seats go quickly. You will need to pay for the reservation and then buy a separate train ticket as well. We bought the train tickets at the station. The Glacier Express arrived perfectly on time and we found our seats without trouble whilst being welcomed aboard by the train manager. We travelled in First Class and the seats were very comfortable and the space available was good. Arrangement of the seats is 2:1 across the train. The views are absolutely amazing from top to bottom (windows at an angle in the top of the train) which meant we could see the mountains, the villages, the ravines, the snow capped mountains in August! The second day we woke up to fresh snow on the mountain tops which was amazing, especially as it was the start of August. The speed of the train in such that you can easily see the magnificent sights of Switzerland and take photos as you go without missing anything. The Glacier Express staff aboard the train, on the platforms and in the ticket office were all extremely polite and welcoming throughout.
