Du royaume des mythes aux motifs de la raison. L'étonnant voyage de la Grèce antique de la foi aveugle à la recherche d'explications pour tout ce qui est inconnu! Il ne s'agit pas de la visite "touristique" habituelle mais plutôt d'une promenade philosophique, entre les monuments antiques qui fournissent le meilleur paysage pour apercevoir cette transformation étonnante. Les philosophes présocratiques nous ont donné ce qui peut être considéré comme la seule véritable « découverte » de la science : que notre monde peut être compris à travers des lois naturelles dont l’identification pourrait permettre aux humains de comprendre leur environnement, et même eux-mêmes... Explorons ensemble ce fascinant changement de perception humaine et découvrons où nous en sommes aujourd'hui !

Itinéraire
Cet endroit était le cœur de la ville d'Athènes. Des philosophes comme Socrate, Platon, des politiciens comme Solon, Thémistocle, Périclès, Thucydide, Sophocle, Aristofanis, qui composaient la "Dream Team" d'Athènes, d'éminents Athéniens et de simples citoyens se sont promenés ici et ont eu des discussions et des débats sur toutes les questions.
Nous ferons une promenade tranquille à travers le marché aux puces coloré d'Athènes avec de nombreuses boutiques d'antiquités et de touristes.
La bibliothèque d'Hadrien a été créée par l'empereur romain Hadrien en 132 après JC sur le côté nord de l'Acropole d'Athènes et était à l'époque la deuxième plus grande au monde.
L'Agora romaine d'Athènes est située au nord de l'Acropole et à l'est de l'Agora antique.
Le bâtiment octogonal appelé la Tour des Vents a été réalisé par l'astronome Andronicus de Kyrristos, au 1er siècle avant JC et servait à la fois d'indicateur de vent mais aussi d'horloge, c'était donc le "Big Ben" d'Athènes et aussi la station météorologique de la ville. L'horloge était solaire mais par temps nuageux il y avait aussi un mécanisme hydraulique qui produisait un son toutes les heures ! Elle est considérée comme la première station météo.
Plaka est un quartier pittoresque d'Athènes avec de petites maisons et des rues étroites pittoresques.
Pnyx Hill a été le premier parlement du monde. Cet endroit offre une vue magnifique sur la région et est un endroit idéal pour admirer le coucher du soleil. C'est aussi gratuit, tout comme les meilleures choses de la vie.
Philoppapos Hill (ou Hill of the Muses) offre les meilleures vues sur Acrpolis et Athènes la nuit.

Bery ingormational, interesting and educational tour given by a very knowledgeable and good speaker. Panos have a good tour with much information about the politics and democracy of ancient Greece, along with philosophies and myths of the ancient Greeks and how these philosophical thinkers affected modern thinking.

Very detailed tour covering Ancient Greece and the philosophers and historical people who created the principles of a democratic state. The walk included going up hill over looking Athens. The views were dramatic, especially the evening we went when there was a rainbow. The professor was a little long winded, but in general we really appreciated his knowledge and learned a lot.
We did the tour two days ago and it was the highlight of our trip! Panos was truly excellent. He injected so much fun and humour into the tour; we loved every second. We learned so much and have bookmarked his website for further reading when we get home. The tour covered the history of Athens and how philosophy, democracy and mythology shaped and continue to influence both ancient Athens and the modern world. Panos was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging throughout. We particularly loved the demonstration of Pythagoras’ cup - so much so that we bought one as a souvenir the next day! We saw so many hidden gems of Athens that we would’ve otherwise missed, such as the prison ruins where Socrates was executed and the ancient cemetery. This tour is a wonderful way to explore the city and its extensive, beautiful, complicated culture. Thank you Panos!
