Description
Cette visite concerne principalement la sculpture de Richard Serra. La sculpture à couper le souffle dans la réserve naturelle de Brouq dans le désert. Ras Brouq - une péninsule située sur la côte ouest du Qatar - porte les vestiges d'une occupation humaine préhistorique. Les magnifiques et emblématiques formations rocheuses de Ras Brouq offrent un aperçu d'un paysage préhistorique. Et entre les deux, vous pourrez voir la formation Mushroom Rock, le village de Zekreet et les ruines du fort de Zekreet.

Itinéraire
Zekreet est un village du nord-ouest du Qatar. Le fort de Zekreet se trouve sur la côte ouest du Qatar, à 90 km de Doha. Le fort a une disposition très particulière qui permet de voir les deux différentes phases de construction. À l'origine, le fort était construit comme un simple carré sans tours à chaque coin. Dans une deuxième phase de développement, des tours ont été ajoutées aux quatre coins extérieurs du fort.
L'artiste de renommée internationale Richard Serra ajoute l'étonnante sculpture Est-Ouest/Ouest-Est au paysage désertique, amenant l'art au peuple.Est-Ouest/Ouest-Est est devenu un point de repère célèbre au Qatar depuis son installation en 2014. Cette sculpture à couper le souffle de la réserve naturelle du Brouq s'étend sur plus d'un kilomètre et se compose de quatre plaques d'acier de plus de quatorze mètres de hauteur chacune.
Vous pouvez également voir la plage de Zekreet. Où vous pouvez voir beaucoup de gens venir pour le kite surf et le para voile.
La région se distingue par son paysage inhabituel de falaises blanches. La forme et la couleur du paysage sont le résultat de l'érosion des couches de calcaire tendre, tandis que les falaises blanches en forme de vent et les formes géologiques bizarres, comme les collines en forme de champignon, rendent la région unique et spéciale au Qatar.

An interesting trip out of Doha, with the highlight being Richard Serra's amazing East-West / West-East art installation. It was also worth seeing the striking landscape around Mushroom Rock. All-in-all, we enjoyed our time with our guide Muhammad, who was knowledgeable, polite and patient. We felt in very safe hands.

Excellent half-day tour of Western Qatar that included the Mushroom top rocks, East-West West-East monoliths, Zekreet Fort ruins. We also did a stop at the camel race track for a quick look around. Our guide, Zubair was engaging and well informed about the area and the sites we visited.

This was a last-minute travel decision made after seeing photos of Richard Serra’s land art and the Zekreet rock formations. The tour did not disappoint. Muhammad Yasin did a wonderful job touring us to this fascinating and underappreciated destination.
Driver Muhammad was a great companion as I was his only guest on the tour! It was good to get out of the city and get a feel for the landscape. The mushroom rocks were pretty cool, but it was the Serra monoliths that stole the show. Had a lot of fun with Muhammad taking some quirky photos. A terrific diversion and well worth the effort.
