One of the best trips we've done in Colombia. I was lucky enough to get the one ebike so the only hill we did was a breeze. Hiked to a quiet beach to snorkel. The hike was very hot so take plenty of sunscreen. Saw birds and plants on the way. Cold beer on our arrival was really welcome. The trip said kayaking and lunch weren't included, but they were. We kayaked back from the beach to our bikes and had a fish lunch before biking back. Our guide was great. There were 4 of us, he said sometimes there's only 2.
Biking, hiking, snorkling, seeing Santa Marta is diverse places, swimming in clear water with nice beaches
The guide was amazing. Explained everything along the way. No need to be a top tear athlete to do this trip but some physical streanggt is needed for the bike portion.
What an amazing experience! I had the pleasure of being guided by Gabriel. I will admit I am quite fit with walking/hiking, but I had A LOT of difficulty biking up the hill to get to Taganga and back. It is completely uphill for an extended period of time, so I don't think that this would be easy for the average traveler. That being said, once I made it to Taganga I got to take in beautiful views, hike, snorkel and kayak. This was such a fun day to end my trip to Santa Marta. Such a unique and exciting experience. The tour included breakfast, tropical fruits (snacks), lunch, coffee, biking equipment and an english-speaking guide. Gabriel was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and he made me feel safe throughout our trip. I would definitely recommend this tour and him as a guide. Thank you Gabriel and the Rent a Bike team!
This is a full package, but be warned that you should be somewhat an experience in bike riding and somewhat fit to ride up hill for 30+ min and hike up the hills for 30-45 min. You meet at the Rent A Bike shop in the town, a block down from Parque de los Nuvios to Carrera 4, shop is between Calle 19-20. Small shop, bike used are 26" 14-18 speed mountain bikes, needs some tuning but was ok. Tour guide Francisco was the awesome guy, very friendly and Speaks English well. You first tried out the bike then handed a large bottle of water and head out to north side of town with lots of markets, where you will stop to have a Arepa y huevo, unique breakfast, where arepa was cooked then put an egg in it then fried. It was very good. Then Francisco bought some bananas for the trip. Weaving through traffics, we headed up the hills, although lots traffics they were considerate and I didn't feel dangerous. My wife, a novice rider on flat ground was struggling to get up, Francisco stayed with her to go up and they ended up getting off the bike to walk up the hill. (I was thankful and this also gave me chances to rest up), down hill was nice in 90+ degree weather. We stop once to take a photo of Santa Marta, then another to view/pic of Taganga. Once at Taganga, we dropped the bike then hike up the hills to get to Playa Sisiguaca(?) which is past Playa Grande Taganga, more secluded and swimmable beach, water was clear and lots of fish to snorkel (Tour provided mask & snorkel). about twenty feet in water dropped off and became rocky but fishes were every where. I actually enjoyed more here than in Bahamas. Even in shallow area, you dropped some banana then you had a school of fish swamming you. After snorkel we head back to Playa Grande Taganga, then got on a kayak to Taganga for a nice fish meal (lunch provide but drink was not, I paid 23k pesos ($5.50) for 4 beers and a Pina colada). This trip, you get to try local foods, bike, hike, swim, snorkel, and kayak. It was well worth the cost, and I find it to be the best value for someone who enjoy various outdoor activities. Walter, the coordinator (owner?) was nice and communicated well using WhatsApp.
we lived an amazing experience; an incredible bike tour with breathtaking views; the walk on Playa Grande left us thrilled. The best adventure was snorkeling in the ocean, seeing beautiful fish. We enjoyed delicious local breakfast and lunch. The staff was extremely kind and fun - definitely the best! 100% recommended
Unbelievable. It exceeded my expectations. Start as if you were a local with a delicious traditional breakfast. Then we replenished ourselves with fruit at the market and that’s where the adventure began. I'm not very athletic so they gave a battery-powered support bike which made it super lightweight. My favorite part was the bathroom in Sisiguaca. And Raul, the best Guide I've ever had in my tour history.
The experience was great, they showed us a part of Santa Marta that we would not have been able to see without them. They were very accommodating and friendly, with effective tricks to attract fish while snorkeling. We loved the guides who worked to include us and ensured everyone was comfortable. However, if you are not in good health and used to exercise, this excursion may be more difficult for you. The hike is short but strenuous, especially in the summer heat.
Alyssa fue un gusto tenerte en nuestra experiecia y que hayas vivido y disfrutado de este tour lleno de sabores colores y sonrisas, mil y mil gracias por escojernos!
David and the staff where so patient and also concerned about our staff and enjoyment. What an experience to bike, snorkel and Kayak all on one tour. I love all the information and history that David shared every step of the way. It takes a little endurance to do this day tour but trust me by the time you finish you will be so glad you did this!
We had a fabulous day with the help of our wonderful and extremely knowledgeable guide Oscar. To bike ( with e-bikes),hike on an awesome path, snorkel in some beautiful water and a nice kayak paddle was an amazing day of adventure. Thank You !!!
