It is an alternative for people that don't have a whole day to spend to do the boat cruise.Although a ride with the boat was included the fisherman denied to take me for a ride.So I spent an hour sitting on a stone and waiting for the sunrise to come.I couldn't enjoy not even that because the fisherman kept me occupied by taking photo postures and telling me to take photos. The cormorans were well fed,so they were just sitting on the shoulders of the fisherman without caring to dive to catch a fish. The driver was punctual,he even brought me to the train station after finishing the show. The landscape was wonderful and peaceful. Don't forget to tip the fisherman after the show who is somewhat greedy.
The tour was truly amazing!!! We made great pictures and have a wonderful memory. Everything was perfectly organized, great spot and very professional guide and a very friendly and patient fisherman :) I would highly recommend this tour, great memories and a unique experience!
I have booked without any big expectation, but Andy clearly understood my request that involved a 3.20am meeting that completely worth it. After a pick up in the hotel and a drive, we needed to walk through a dark side walk, to finally reach the viewpoint. We were just the 4 of us (our guide, the 2 of us, and our 3 years old) to experience a beautiful rising sun, with a sweet and beautiful fisher man that was making the show for us.. it is not necessary to explain the magic of the view, I wish you will experience it by yourself.. that was peaceful and so beautiful!! Then we went to another panoramic beautiful top viewpoint before driving back to the hotel. Our guide Kevin is a good driver and a very good English speaker, that stays available and helpful in the days following our tour.
The boat trip on the Li River was incredibly beautiful. It was very hot on deck, bring umbrella and fan. There was air conditioning downstairs. Andy is a fresh and sweet guy, took care of the important things. When you start the trip you are in a large departure center, remember to be careful. After the tour, we saw Yangshou, which is surrounded by the beautiful limestone mountains that rise steeply and majestically from the ground. The visit to the fisherman in the sunset was magical, He showed how to fish with cormorants or nets. Very beautiful and he was nice and present.
We enjoyed going to a remote area to watch the sunrise. There was no one else in the area we were in and it was very peaceful. A local fisherman posed for photos and showed how they would traditionally fish. It’s a great photo opportunity. We would have been taken to a view point as well, but we had actually been the day before so didn’t go at this time, but definitely would be good to do that too.
This was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I am glad I trusted Andy and went ahead with this tour. I have photographs of an exotic ancient world that doesn't exist anymore. Andy took me to a beautiful spot on the Li River where we could get still water and nice sunrise angles. He also arranged for a very cooperative fisherman who played along my requests during the entire photoshoot. I am just an amateur photographer but all my friends are gasping over my photographs. Every penny has been well-spent on this tour. Also, Andy is a great guide. He knows the area well and is very helpful.
We woke up at 3 am to do this tour and didn’t regret it at all. Andy, our guide, drove us himself. Andy was on time, professional, accommodating, and friendly. Most helpful to us, he recommended a fantastic breakfast place that fit our needs perfectly. His English is great. The tour itself means about an hour drive through highway first then backwoods roads. Then you walk a bit through the dark to the fisherman’s boat, and you ride the boat (still in the dark) to a rocky outcropping. Then, you wait until the sun rises and sit on a bench from the fisherman’s boat. It was spring when we did this, so we didn’t get a “pretty” sunrise with colors, but it was still an incredible experience. I would recommend bringing a camera that works in low light, a lot of our earlier pictures were blurry. Then you walk back to the car for about 10 minutes. It finishes around 8 am, you can easily do things later in the day. Personally, we took a nap and then caught a train to Zhangjiajie.
