Une journée inoubliable pour découvrir la Côte Ouest rocheuse de Gran Canaria et le Nord verdoyant loin du tourisme de masse. Durant cette journée vous pourrez en profiter pour vous baigner dans les plus belles piscines naturelles de l’île. Nous choisir c’est choisir de voyager en prenant son temps, en redécouvrant la diversité des paysages mais aussi son patrimoine local, historique, culturel et gastronomique. Votre excursion est totalement privée, sans arrêts commerciaux inutiles. Nous sommes établis depuis de nombreuses années sur l’île de Gran Canaria. Il y a plus de 20 ans, nous sommes tombés amoureux de ses habitants, de ses paysages et de ses traditions. Nous sommes passionnés pour visiter tous les coins de notre belle île. Nous sommes impatients de faire découvrir, à tous ceux qui veulent s’échapper du tourisme de masse, toutes les merveilles qui se cachent sur notre « continent en miniature ». Itinéraire
Nous ferons un arrêt photo au « Molino de Viento ». Il s'agit d'un moulin à vent, situé à quelques kilomètres de Mogan. La tradition orale a raconté que c'était un berger de La Aldea qui l'a incendié en représailles contre le pouvoir municipal. A partir de ce moment-là, il est connu sous le nom de Moulin Brûlé. Il a été restauré en 1998. Par sa tour de 7 mètres, il obtient le titre de plus grand moulin à vent en Grande Canarie.
Nous ferons un arrêt pour admirer les « Azulejos de Veneguera », un monument naturel formé par un processus complexe de solidification des fluides expulsés par le volcan Tejeda et que l'érosion de milliers d'années a laissé à découvert. Une montagne comme si nous l’avons colorée avec des coups de pinceau. L’érosion a révélé une série de couches géologiques, des minéraux teintés de tons rougeâtres, ocres, verts et bleus. Les habitants de la région ont donné le nom de « Los Azulejos de Veneguera » en raison de leur ressemblance avec les murs carrelés de carreaux de couleurs vives de San Nicolas de Tolentino.
A Puerto de la Aldea nous trouverons l'unique plage bien accessible de toute cette côte. Nous nous promènerons sur le port puis nous nous dirigerons vers « El Charco ». C’est un petit lac naturel situé sur la plage de La Aldea, constitué d’eau de mer. Les festivités d'El Charco, dans le village de San Nicolás, sont l'un des événements les plus célèbres et les plus populaires des îles Canaries. Chaque 11 septembre, dans le « lac » de la commune, des centaines de personnes se rassemblent pour pêcher de leurs propres mains les poissons qui vivent dans ce lagon côtier. Cette fête est considérée comme Bien d'Intérêt Culturel et se base sur une tradition préhispanique. Après une longue route le long des abîmes rocheux avec un arrêt pour prendre des photos de la côte sauvage, nous arriverons à notre prochain arrêt « Le Puerto de Las Nieves ».
Agaete possède certaines des piscines naturelles et des plages les plus populaires de la partie nord de l'île. Nous marcherons sur sa pittoresque promenade maritime et nous arrêterons dans les piscines naturelles. N’oubliez pas votre maillot de bain, si vous souhaitez vous baigner dans ces piscines ! Une expérience unique et inoubliable !
Après la baignade, nous marcherons vers le port de Agaete « Puerto de las Nieves », petit port de pêche avec ses nombreux restaurants de poisson au bord de mer. Ce sera l'arrêt idéal pour une pause déjeuner bien méritée dans un restaurant typiquement canarien offrant majoritairement des poissons pêchés localement. (Repas non inclus dans le prix de l’excursion). Après le repas, nos nous promènerons dans le port avec ses maisons blanches et bleues au pied de la plage de galets. Nous en profiterons pour aller voir ce qu’il reste du fameux « Dedo de Dios », rocher emblématique du port. Il s'agit d'un monolithe surgissant de l'océan qui avait la forme d'une main et d'un doigt pointé vers le ciel. Suite à une tempête à l'automne 2005, le doigt s'est effondré. Il ne reste plus aujourd'hui que la main. Il sera alors temps de prendre la route vers Arucas.
Nous quitterons maintenant la route principale en direction de Arucas. Ici le paysage est très vert et il y a partout des plantations de bananes et des « Fincas » typiques. Dans cette région, l`agriculture joue un rôle principal. A Arucas nous visiterons (extérieur) La Cathédrale “lglesia de San Juan". Cette église énorme à quatre tours a été construite en basalte noir.

We had a great time with Fabian. Myself and my 13 years old daughter enjoyed his stories about the island and visiting places that were picturesque and certainly memorable. Lunch was super tasty and we loved trying typical Canarian food. Fabian was also patient with us when we wanted to stop and buy some nicely crafted souvenirs - much appreciated. Through his excursion, Fabien has shown us some of the wonders of Gran Canaria. He was able to satisfy our thirst for curiosity about the history, geography and culture of this island. We had the opportunity to take a trip to the mountains of Gran Canaria in December 2023 with this company and we were completely satisfied. So this year, for our return to the island we booked the full tour of the island and obviously again with Fabien. It was like meeting a long-time friend. You could see he was really happy to see us again. We toured the island as indicated on the program and even with a few little “Plus”, because Fabien knows how to adapt according to his clients and does not count his time. We enjoyed visiting the beach area of “La Aldea” Fabien showed us sites that we could not have discovered alone. The fish meal in Agaete facing the port was very good and typical. The West Coast is wild and beautiful. Fabien has many different excursions and as we return every year, we have already planned a completely different excursion. Having just completed my second tour with Fabien (my first was two years ago), I can confidently say that it is one of Gran Canaria's best guidebooks. This "Jane McDonald Tour" was absolutely fantastic and took us to some of the island's most beautiful hidden treasures. Fabien’s profound knowledge and passion for Gran Canaria are evident at every stop. From the crystal clear waters of Tufia with its charming white-blue houses and cave dwellings to the impressive neo-Gothic San Juan Bautista church in Arucas - every stop was a highlight. The historic centre of Arucas with its 17th-century architecture was particularly fascinating. ==References== A special highlight was the visit to Firgas, also known as the "balcony of the Atlantic". The Paseo de Gran Canaria with its waterfall road and the Paseo de Canarias, which shows the landscapes of all the Canary Islands, offer breathtaking photographic motifs. Lunch here was a unique experience with local watercress dishes - a truly authentic taste of Canarian cuisine! The last stop at Puerto de las Nieves in Agaete was overwhelming, with its natural pools and iconic Dedo de Dios rock formation. The blue and white houses along the pebble beach perfectly embody the charm of this fishing village. What distinguishes Fabien is his charming personality, his many years of experience and his ability to convey not only the tourist places but the authentic soul of Gran Canaria. His personable nature and professional approach make the 8-hour tour seem like an excursion with a well-informed friend. I have now done two different tours with Fabien and would book again at any time. If you want to experience the real Gran Canaria with an excellent guide, Fabien is the place to be. His tours are worth every euro! Tip for travellers: Think of comfortable shoes, sun protection and bathing gear if you want to swim in the natural pools!
