This is a great day trip. It was moderately busy by 1030 hrs, so go early if you want to avoid the crowds. Cost is 61 euro if buying a ticket locally and 4 euro discount for seniors. If you have an Inns’ Welcome card, you can get a 10% discount. Best to buy a ticket at the Altstadt (main) ticket office
This was a great way to take in the views of Innsbruck and the surrounding area. The trip was very slick and there were three different carriages along the way, all with lots of glass to maximise the views. There were places to grab food and drinks at each stop. At the top there were a number of walking trails to explore. A really great experience.
We came to the train today, July 23rd, and were really looking forward to it, but since we have very, very long waiting times because of repairs that aren't even true, I find it an insolence that one is lied to like that. Others also got to the top, we have been waiting for over an hour
Beautiful Alps visit and views. Highest point you can see 360 and backcountry also. Tip: take afternoon trips, 2 pm there's handful of people going up and crowds are queues down.
It was a wonderful experience. The view was spectacular and how smooth everything was. People were very friendly.
An amazing adventure. The process was simple, the cable car was clean and safe and provided a 360 panoramic view of the beautiful mountainside and countryside of Innsbrook.
Taking the cable car from the city center all the way to the top was an incredible experience—especially with our mixed-age group. The journey itself is smooth and exciting, and the views just keep getting better with every stop. At the summit, the scenery is absolutely stunning and truly unforgettable. It’s a must-see and must-do when in Innsbruck. Pro tip: wait for clear skies to get the full impact of the breathtaking views!
Our trip to the Top of Innsbruck was an unforgettable experience, especially traveling as a group of 10 with a mix of ages, including older family members. What impressed us most right from the start was how incredibly easy and well-organized the entire journey is. You can begin right in the heart of the city and make your way all the way to the summit using a seamless series of cable cars. Everything is clearly marked, smooth, and accessible—no stress at all, even for those who may not be as mobile. It made the experience enjoyable for everyone in our group. As you ascend, the scenery transforms dramatically, and once you reach the top, you’re greeted with truly stunning, open panoramic views of the Alps. Standing at such a high altitude is a unique experience in itself—the air feels crisper, and the scale of the mountains around you is simply breathtaking. It’s a perfect combination of convenience and adventure. You get the thrill of reaching the high alpine environment without a strenuous hike, making it accessible for all generations. Highly recommended for families, groups, and anyone visiting Innsbruck—you get world-class views and a unique mountain experience with minimal effort.
Great views—but bundle up! It was cold (In mid-May)! Nice places to sit, get a snack or a meal, at some of the stops. We loved the hot chocolate!
I loved it (more than the Zugspitze). Incredible views, incredible ride up and down, and decent cafes along the way.
