Fascinating Graffiti Tour in Tokyo

We have been to Tokyo several times so we were excited to come across this unique tour. My husband collects graffiti in our travels so he was excited to see and learn about graffiti culture in Japan. Elena was very knowledgeable about all the graffiti large and small and it was interesting to see the collaboration amongst graffiti artists. Elena pointed out each artists contribution to larger art- clearly she knows the community well! There is a variety of graffiti and Japan considers all graffiti illegal unless for a project. We stopped by a gallery to see a new collection and we happened to meet the artist and bought one of his pieces! We like to buy art from local artists when we travel and this was a unique piece to add to our home. We really enjoyed this unique tour and highly recommend for a different perspective of graffiti in Tokyo!

Exploring the hidden symbols and underground art scene of Shibuya and Harajuku

I spent about 90 mins walking, with my excellent guide Elena (who has studied the local underground street art and "over ground" art scene for many years) around the backstreets of Shibuya and Harajuku. She did not only point out the more or less legal art, she also explained as far as possible how to decode it, and provided additional context. A good side effect of the tour is that you get to know the shops, cafes and galleries that you otherwise might not have found outside the main streets in the area. The meeting spot was natural for this tour, but for me challenging to find, hence the lower rate.

A must in tokyo !

One of the best experiences I had in Tokyo! Elena is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about graffiti and street art. She took us to places we would never have discovered on our own and explained the history, artists, and culture behind each piece in a fascinating way. The tour is the perfect mix of art, local culture, and hidden neighborhoods. It completely changed the way I see Tokyo. Whether you're into street art or just looking for a unique experience beyond the usual tourist attractions, I highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Elena, for such an inspiring and unforgettable experience!
