À quelques minutes en voiture de San Pedro de Atacama, loin des lumières de la ville, des millions d'étoiles apparaissent au-dessus de vous et la Voie lactée s'étend à travers le ciel du désert. L'expérience Roofless est une expérience d'astronomie en petit groupe qui combine observation au télescope, discussions astronomiques et une atmosphère détendue sous les étoiles. Grâce à deux puissants télescopes de 16 pouces, vous observerez des étoiles, des nébuleuses, des amas d'étoiles et les constellations australes, tandis que votre guide vous expliquera la science et l'histoire du cosmos de manière captivante et accessible. Entre deux observations, détendez-vous à la belle étoile avec un verre de vin, un chocolat chaud ou un thé et de délicieuses collations, bien au chaud sous des couvertures douillettes. Pour clore cette soirée en beauté, chaque invité reçoit une photo professionnelle sous le ciel d'Atacama. L'univers privé est notre option exclusive pour les moments spéciaux.

Itinéraire
La visite commence par la prise en charge des passagers à l'hébergement, cela prend généralement environ 30 minutes, puis nous nous déplacerons vers nos installations à environ 7 km à l'extérieur de San Pedro où notre guide les attendra.
Nous vous donnerons un bref discours de bienvenue et prendrons des photos souvenirs. Il est très important de venir avec des vêtements chauds et de couleurs claires. Ensuite, nous aurons une brève discussion sur l'astronomie liée à la formation des étoiles et à l'utilisation des télescopes. Enfin, nous utiliserons les télescopes de 14 pouces pour découvrir l'univers, où vous pourrez profiter, selon la date de votre voyage, de différents types d'étoiles, nébuleuses, planètes et autres objets qui vous laisseront sans voix.
Une fois l'expérience terminée, nous entamons le retour à San Pedro, laissant tous les passagers dans leurs logements respectifs.

We cannot rate the experience highly enough. From start to finish, Jonathon put so much effort into making the night as magical as possible. The sky itself was beautiful, but everything was so thought through on the tour that it made the experience perfect. Jonathon and his wife went to extra care to ensure our allergies were taken care of and that my partner was kept safe. The snack boards were delicious, as was the wine. Jonathon is clearly very passionate and extremely knowledgeable. It was a privilege to be able to listen to him speak about the stars and learn so much whilst gazing at the beautiful views. Each of us got plenty of time to use the telescopes, it wasn’t rushed and Jonathon wanted to make sure that we had all seen everything. The whole night ran seamlessly. This was my favorite activity in Atacama and we went on four different tours! From the moment I stepped out of the van and looked up I knew I was in paradise. Being able to observe the Milky Way with the naked eye is a priceless experience, and that coupled with wine, snacks, and professional photos makes this a no brainer. Jhonathan and Jhonathan were both amazing, knowledgeable tour guides who imparted so much fun knowledge about astronomy and chemistry to our group. Thanks to them we were able to even observe some constellations!. If you're a space aficionado, this tour is an absolute must.

I did this experience with Jonathan who is extremely knowledgeable about astronomy and did an excellent job highlighting the stars, constellations, and galaxies in the sky over the Atacama desert. It was a very small group with 3 people which gave it a very personal feel.

Jonathan was a very enthusiastic guide. We loved his enthusiasm . We spent about an hour learning to take photos of the sky with our phones. Then we looked at stars in two telescopes. It was freezing. My recommendation is to wear tons of layers, a hat and gloves and be prepared to freeze. The only thing I would have liked is more instruction on the constellations before spending hours looking at stars in the telescopes. The food was a charcuterie board but we didn’t really get a chance to sit and eat it. If it is going to be a very cold night, I recommend that they provide extra blankets and maybe a fire. All in all they tried very hard to make it a nice experience but with the cold temps and ineffective itinerary, it was not great.

While we always advise our guests to dress in warm layers and we actively provide Heat Holders blankets TOG 1.7 during our tours, regarding your suggestion of an open fire, please note that we purposely avoid it as it is scientifically contraindicated for hight quality; fire creates light pollution that resets the 20+ minutes your eyes need to adapt to the dark, and the heat generates atmospheric turbulence that distorts telescope imagery. However, your feedback regarding other alternative heating solutions is well taken, and it is something we are actively looking into for the winter season. We apologize if these measures were not sufficient to keep you completely comfortable during your specific night. Regarding the itinerary, we usually structure our sessions to optimize the specific visibility windows of celestial objects and the astrophotography setups. However, your feedback about incorporating a more thorough orientation on the constellations before diving into the telescopes is excellent. We will certainly work on adjusting our flow to ensure a better balance. We also take note of your comment about the charcuterie board timing to ensure our guests can enjoy their refreshments at a more relaxed pace. An incredible experience, we could not recommend this highly enough. Jhonatan and his team were brilliant, their knowledge was brilliant and their passion was clear to see. The experience was split into two parts - the first section Jhonatan taught us how to take photos of the night sky, and also used a high quality set up to take profession photos of us with the milky way as the backdrop. The second section was all about educating us on the night sky and using two incredible telescopes to see various types of star and formation. This second section was accompanied by wonderful food and drink which we had been contacted about in advance to accommodate any preferences and dietary requirements. We wouldn't hesitate to book this again if we returned to the Atacama Desert.
