What a wonderful experience! Comfortable accommodation, fantastic Boma dinner, easy to get around and walk the premises safely, animals are well cared for.
We did the whole day tour which included a delicious breakfast and lunch. Our guide Davidson was amazing and knowledgeable! In fact the entire team did everything to ensure we had a pleasant visit. It is clear that every member of the team cares for the animals they have there. I was impressed with their No Self policy and that the resident animals are only there because they are not able to be released and survive. The whole day tour included a forest walk as well as an opportunity to see the extraordinary care every animal receives including the ibis! Injured animals are taken to facility and we learned about how they are rehabilitated and returned to their natural habitat. If you don’t have a whole day, I would highly recommend the other tours that are shorter however just as informative. A huge thank you to the entire Tenikwa team for an unforgettable experience and your dedication to their animals!
Enjoyable informative trip . Found out lots of facts did not realise about before tour. Good chances to to take photos. Very hot . Guide very pleasant .
Without a doubt, one of the most amazing and poignant encounters we have ever had with wildlife was our visit to the Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre. We were immediately struck by the stunning, natural surroundings and the obvious commitment to the welfare of the animals. It's much more than just a viewing; it's an educational experience that fosters a deep bond with the native wild cats of South Africa. It is really admirable what Tenikwa does for education, rehabilitation, and conservation. It was amazing to see these amazing animals up close in settings that honoured their natural characteristics. We gained a great deal of knowledge about their struggles and the significance of their protection. But our guide, Boniwe (seen in the picture), was what really made our visit extraordinary. From the beginning, it was clear that she was deeply knowledgeable and had a strong passion for the animals. The entire tour was made much more interesting and intimate by Boniwe's sharing of anecdotes, observations, and her sincere affection for each animal rather than merely reciting facts. Her enthusiasm was contagious, and she had a great way of answering questions and making sure we felt included. We felt as though we were getting a very special look into their world because of her ability to identify even the most elusive cats and share small details about their personalities and pasts. The centre truly benefits from Boniwe's friendliness, expertise, and deep bond with the Tenikwa wildlife. She is an outstanding ambassador for these animals and for Tenikwa itself. After leaving Tenikwa, we now have a much deeper appreciation for these wild cats and a heart filled with unforgettable memories, especially because of Boniwe's brilliant guidance. We cannot recommend Tenikwa Wildlife Awareness Centre enough, and if you get Boniwe as your guide, then you are unbelievably lucky! This is a must for anyone who cares about wildlife and conservation.
Amazing time. AYA was the best guide and funny and informative throughout. Wish we could have had longer. It was a great chance to see big cats up close. Will definately do it again.
Thank you so much for leaving us your review. We're very happy to hear how much you enjoyed your tour and we hope you can come back again!
We visit Tenikwa every time we're in Plettenberg Bay! It's a wonderful, small animal rescue where we can get very close to the animals. The owners and staff are welcoming and so helpful and kind, and we love the small tours. They have also upgraded their gift shop considerably and we've gotten some very cool stuff. It's a great place to support since they rescue animals that otherwise may not survive
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It's only with your support that we are able to carry on caring for these animals, so it is truly appreciated!
So interesting and beautiful place! Many felines an birds. Very beautiful, spacious, well decorated and clean room. And the best staff!
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your review. It's great to hear you enjoyed your visit so much and we really appreciate your support.
We had a very interesting private tour today. We received a good explanation about the animals and the rehabilitation process they use. We are very grateful to our guide, Sandile, for his expert explanations and sharing his love for the animals. Highly recommended!
Thank you for taking the time to leave us your review. We really appreciate your support and we'll be sure to pass your comments on to Sandile.
We visited for a private wildlife tour on Thursday 8th. We had an amazing time thanks to our fantastic guide Msizi Shange. He was very knowledgeable and had a great affinity with the animals. It helped that it was an overcast day so the animals were in view (not hiding in the shade). Obviously you can only see the lions, cheetah & leopard from behind a fence but you are still very close. Plenty of picture opportunities! You can walk amongst the African wild cats, servals & tortoises. There are also a caracals, a few penguins, cranes, herons & very playful meerkats. We would highly recommend a visit here.
Thank you for your great review. It's fantastic to hear how much you enjoyed your tour with Msizi and we're really pleased you got to see all our resident animals. We really appreciate your recommendation.
What a great experience! The lovely Bonnie was so friendly and knowledgeable and allowed us into some of the enclosures so that we could take some great photos while she fed the big cats. Thanks Bonnie - you are so natural and friendly and an asset to the sanctuary. We enjoyed chatting with you on our private tour of Tenikwa. Big hugs from your friends from the UK xxx
Thank you for your great review. We're delighted to hear how much you enjoyed your tour with Bonnie, and will be sure to pass on your hugs! Thank you so much for your support.
