We really enjoyed our experience at the Barrilito Rum Distillery! The history behind the distillery was fascinating, and it was especially meaningful hearing about the barrel they keep reserved for the hope of Puerto Rico one day becoming independent and being able to share it with the community. That detail alone made the tour feel very special and memorable. Our tour guide Erik was amazing — super engaging, funny, and welcoming from beginning to end. He did a great job making the tour both informative and entertaining, and you could tell he genuinely enjoyed what he does. The rum flight tasting at the end was immaculate lol and was the perfect way to finish the experience. Definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Puerto Rico!
We were picked up just across from the port. Completely stress free experience. Jesus is a very kind man and was pleasant to talk to. The tour was great, only four in the group. The guide was very knowledgeable & also pleasant. The young man did a great job! Lastly, try the pina colada! It was very good.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the distillery and learning about its history. Our driver and local tour guide, Jesus, was fantastic. Highly recommend this experience.
Overall positive experience. Driver was excellent. However, there are actually 2 tours. Heritage tour and Tasting tour. The Viator listing is only for the Heritage tour. The Tasting tour which would be the preferred tour and includes the Heritage tour. The Tasting tour is a few $ more. Our disappointment was there was no explanation that 2 tours existed. We learned of 2 tours when remaining group went to tasting room and we learned our tour did not included tasting. We missed out on the tasting which we would have preferred. Our driver arrived at pickup time. The Viator Listing should include Tasting tour as option or Tasting tour as separate tour. It was a disappointment not able to go to the rum tasting room.
We initially thought we were being booked on a Bacardi tour, however, after speaking with the travel company, we discovered that we were booked to go to Barrilito tour, she was very nice and highly and strongly recommended this tour over Bicardi. Boy was she right we had a private tour and mixology experience with Tim who was GREAT! a VERY enjoyable experience
We loved it. Our tour guide Margaret. Was the best. Left with buying 3 bottles. The distillery very nice and clean. ❤️
Loved the history, the family house is preserved in tact and you learn about the process of distilling and aging this excellent rum
Tour of original house was interesting but about 10 minutes. Tour of factory and barrel rooms was another 10 minutes. I suggest skipping the $80 tour (no tastings, just a drink included) and buy your own $14 drink which was very well done. Lots of choices and made with great ingredients. The $100 pp for transport and tour made it a bit of a better value but overall I suggest your own transport and have a cocktail at the bar.
This tour was very informative and the rum was delicious! Jesus was our driver and Valeria our guide, they made the experience!
Our driver picked us up on time and provided some good info on the way to the distillery. He also dropped us off at Santurce (rather than our hotel) on the return trip and gave us tips on viewing the murals. The bartender helped each of us choose the perfect drink for our welcome cocktail. He was an excellent mixologist and fun to watch him work. Our tour guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable and entertaining. We learned both about this distillery and the history of rum in Puerto Rico.
