Three of us took the Badass Broads of Charleston tour, a couple of us live near Charleston and have taken several different tours of the city over the years, this was by far the BEST Tour! Jonathon was SO knowledgeable an a great tour guide. This is a must do when everyone visiting Charleston! The best tour ever!!
We take tours via Viator and Trip Advisor throughout the world. We’ve had wonderful experiences but THIS walking tour was EXCEPTIONAL! Jonathan knows how to weave a story and include a great deal of information into one story at each point. You will not regret taking this tour and learning the history of various Bad Ass women of Charleston and the importance of these women in history! Our niece booked the tour for the family and it was perfect!
John is very knowledgeable and offers a fascinating glimpse into Charleston’s rich history. Very glad we did it— highly recommend!
Fabulous tour with Jonathan learning about influential women in Charleston's past. Jonathan, obviously, loves what he does and his enthusiasm is contagious. The time spent with him went by way too quickly and I will be looking to book more tours with him in the future!
Started almost 15 min late, d/t late arrivals walking up in the same group. Then, our tour went over time by 30 min.,(even when we were asked if this was ok, we politely said we had pressing appointments to prepare for…. We were pretty much ignored by our Guide). Our Guide said even he was going to be “late” for his next tour. This was d/t a combo of starting late and our Guide’s excessive talking at each of our stops. I also heard from the guide he had a choice of 9 or more tours he could have taken us on, however, we had no opportunity to select any of these options. As you can tell. I was unimpressed with this tour d/t the circumstances and organizational abilities of our Guide. Sorry to say, I definitely would NOT recommend this tour to others.
This review is not for our company. We do not have 9 tours to choose from. The Badass Broads tour is the last one of the day. We would never be running late because there is not tour to get to. I have asked Tripadvisor to take this off of our listing. They will probably refuse. None of this review is indicative of how JWalk Tours operates.
We had a time on our tour! He was clearly knowledgeable and passionate about the notable women in Charleston’s history!
Jonathan was a great guide! We’ve visited Charleston many times and this was such an interesting experience, learned a lot. Great for first time visitors too. Highly recommend!
Due to miss communication between the VIATOUR documentation on this tour and the actual tour guide, we missed this tour. The tour description needs to be updated to advise customers that the tour guide will contract you before the tour with updated tour start locations. My friend and I were really looking forward to this tour.
I would like to start by addressing future guests. I have never changed the starting location. The address you will receive in your confirmation is accurate. It is a coffee shop at 159 Church Street. There is no need for the tour guide to "contract" you with updated tour locations. Now, allow me to respond to your review. I think it is interesting that you failed to mention that I allowed Viator to refund your money even though I was not required to. I have been doing tours for years and not one time has anyone gone to 21 Magazine Street to meet me. (That is the old city jail for those of you not familiar with the city.) In your emails to me you used the term "in good faith" multiple times in regards to my business. I suppose I expect people to be able to follow the instructions I have in the confirmation that the system AUTOMATICALLY sends out. I showed up at the right spot at the right time, hoping that you would also.....in good faith. My final advice would be that if you are really looking forward to something, show up at the right spot.
We really enjoyed the badass broads tour from Jonathan. It was a great walk downtown with relevant information. I loved the focus on celebrating women during a time when women have been left out of a lot of history. I appreciate the use of intentional language to show respect and honor for the enslaved people.
Wow! Who knew! These are impressive women too few know about. Thank you for bringing us their stories!
