This was an experience of a lifetime led by a local family. Correspondence with Evelyn in the office to help us decide on a trip and dates was very professional, friendly, and not pushy. Our knowledgeable guide (Rivelino), kept his eyes open constantly and stopped to set up his scope to show a new bird and tell us fascinating facts about it. He hustled us out at 5:40 am one morning and we were rewarded by getting to see hundreds of parts and parakeets feed at a clay lick. Two groups arrived 30 min. Later and missed the show. Our careful and knowledgeable driver (Oscar) was trustworthy on harrowing roads and, when stopped, was a second pair of eagle eyes to find interesting things to see.. Luz is an off the charts cook making full meals even travelling all day in a boat or car!! The trip well organized, accommodating, great food, lots of birds and monkeys. It physically challenged our 65 year old knees, it is not a driving tour. We frequently got out of the car to walk a stretch of road to see wildlife and hiked into our lodge accommodations. Finally, we were lucky to escape most rain until our very last night. The torrential downpour meant that lodge staff had to carry backpacks and food and equipment on their heads in waist deep moving water to get to the boat while the rest of us walked a mile around on dry land to get to the boat that we had only had to track a half mile to get to the day before. The same rain caused several huge mudslides on the road back delaying our about 3 hours. This is probably par for the course if you try to travel during the rainy season which is in full force by January February and early March. None of this damned are experienced it enhanced our understanding of what people live with and the gifts of the jungle ecosystem. Make sure you do research on tips and plan accordingly you will not want to under reward these workers.
Dear Cindy, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. We're so glad to hear you enjoyed the trip and that the team's support made all the difference. Even the challenges along the way are part of what makes the jungle so special. Thank you for your kind words and for appreciating everyone's work. Best regards, Evelyn - Palotoa Amazo Travel Team
Second to none, extremely satisfied wih the tour and the tour company who were very much attentive to detais and did everything thy could in making this a memorable and a pleasant trip. The Manu Natinal park is somewhat long drive from Cusco and they had all stops carefully planned along the way. The food, accommodation and peple were all good and we just cannot reccommend them enough.
Super nice and wellorganised trip to Amazon Rainforest with Abel as our tour guide. As a local from the region, his knowledge and awareness about the plant life and animals were impeccable. The price was quite reasonable for all they offered in the tour. Just cannot reccommend them enough. Thanks Abel and Thanks Palotoa.
