The guide/naturalist Carlos was the main factor for a fact filled and educational experience. Gliding through many branches of the mangrove bordered estuaries was amazing and peaceful. Wildlife sightings were beautiful but sparse. Carlos found a howler monkey family. Observing them was a highlight of the excursion. Bringing along binoculars makes observing birds, crocodiles, monkeys more interesting.
Despite seeing very few animals (tour at 9:20) our guide tried to make the boat tour as interesting as possible by giving lots of information about the mangroves and other plants and trees in this environment. We enjoyed the tour of the garden where we were shown lots of local plants. Some of the explanations were hard to understand for non-english speakers but the general information came across. Drifting along the water was very relaxing after a day with lots of walking. Pick-up and return worked very well.
Our guide made the experience so incredible. We were able to see an uncommon heron that we didn’t think we would actually see on our trip (boat billed heron). We also saw multiple crocodiles, learned about the role mangrove trees have in the estuary and even got to see monkeys. Our guide was a great person who wanted us all to have a great time-and we did!
Great experience. Our tour guide was remarkably knowledgeable about the ecosystem around and beyond us. We were lucky to see monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, crabs.
Juan Carlos was an excellent guide. We had a great time learning all about the mangroves and how important they are to the rest of Earth. We got to see crocodiles up close and personal. But the real treat was a rarely seen black tipped shark in the estuary! The trip was a nice way to spend a few hours learning all about Costa Rica and the eco system this small little country thrives on.
Juan Carlos, our guide, was perfect! The morning was ideal, not too hot, with many animals, a beautiful expedition without too much hassle
This estuary tour was well-coordinated and led by an exceptionally knowledgeable guide. We learned about the vital ecosystem of the mangrove forest and Tamarindo River and also about the wildlife. Our guide showed us howler monkeys, crocodile, land crabs, and a variety of birds.
A beautiful and relaxing experience. We saw monkeys, crocodiles, and many birds while exploring the mangroves
Incredible experience! Juan Carlos, our captain was so knowledgeable about everything.... highly recommend!
We saw monkeys, crocodiles, iguanas, land crabs, and birds. It was neat to see the animals. I'm glad we did it.
