It was chance really, that we picked this tour on a Sunday when the streets were quieter than on a week day. There were around 15 of us, all expertly led by Ram who certainly knows his stuff and who has an encyclopaediac knowledge of this historic area. It's a shame that so many of the buildings have obviously seen better days and have been allowed to deteriorate, but this did not detract from what was a very enjoyable three hours' walk though Kolkata's colonial past. Highly recommended and I would join this tour again.
Thank you for the kind words. Ramanuj is an amazing explorer and we love how exciting he makes the tours.
A walk I would recommend hands down. Informative and enriching. Tuhina's passion and love for her city is infectious. My only complaint is the slow response. Iftekhar did not reply to my WhatsApp message for days leaving me to wonder if I had the wrong contact number. And neither did Tuhina respond to my message sent after the tour was over. So be prepared to be patient. A little more professionalism would be hugely appreciated.
We took a walking tour of the Dalhousie area in Calcutta with Ifte and it was an excellent experience! He was very friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about the city’s history. His stories and insights gave us a wonderful feel for the place, bringing the colonial architecture and history to life. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to explore the city beyond the usual tourist spots!
Vedant was an excellent guide because he was knowledgeable, patient, flexible and with outstanding spoken English delivered perfectly audibly We took the Confluence of Cultures tour, the Flower Market, River and Potter District tour and the White Town/Raj tour. Having a driver to take us from our hotel to a sensible walking tour start point and being there to collect us at the end to return us to the hotel was very worthwhile.
Excellent experience. The guide, Ifte, was incredibly articulate and knowledgable and shared his knowledge and perspective with great pride in his heritage. Highly recommend this tour.
We had 4 different walks over 2 days and whilst we broadly followed the standard route, Tuhina modified it a little to take in the Surveyors Government department which was a specific interest for us. Tuhina is the best guide we have ever had in all the years we have travelled due to her immense knowledge, her excellent English and her way of making everything so interesting. She was very helpful in getting us into the Surveyors private library and for that I am very grateful. I am sure the other guides are excellent too but we felt very lucky with Tuhina. Fascinating tours done so professionally. Thank you!
Tuhina was by far the best guide we have had in India. Tour was fabulous just what we hoped for. A must in our opinion. Informative factual but fun. Highly recommend it.
we were a group of 15, all of whom had been several times in India. Our experience on this Footsteps of the Raj tour was outstanding. Our guide Tuhina was enthusiastic, informative and fun. Highly recommended
Excellent and exceptionally detailed explanation by and our tour guide- Ramanuj Ghosh. It is a must if you are inclined towards historical tours and want to get to know your city!
So as this was my first historic walk around I had a lot of expectations and to be very honest this walk was more than what I expected. I must say Mr. Ramanuj Ghosh is not just any ordinary tour guide in fact he is an encyclopaedia of Calcutta history. Calcutta walks is a must not if you are tourist but also even if you are from the city itself. The tour is a must. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!
