Visite au coucher du soleil du village sur pilotis de Kampong Phluk sur le Tonlé Sap

Description

Brilliant day with everything organised. Bus ride through town, then boat, then canoe, then stunning sunset in the vast lake. Pon is a great guide, good English, good knowledge and cheerful. Do it!

This was by far the best excursion I ever took. I am a solo traveller backpacking around the world. Floating village, local community, mangroves feel reel, not like in Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia. Our tour guide Tom was fantastic and showed us in-house living and much more.
Thank you so much for the incredible review! As a solo backpacker, we are honored that our floating village excursion with Tom stood out as your best tour yet. Best regards, June
Bory (Tom) was a fun and friendly fella! Seeing the village was really interesting and I particularly enjoyed the visit to the English school. Recommended!
Thank you for recommending us! We are glad that Bory (Tom) made your trip so fun and that you enjoyed visiting the village school. Best regards, June
It was a beautiful experience, everything organized to perfection, from the transport to the end of the trip. It includes a visit to the floating village of Kampong Phluk, a boat ride to visit the whole village, and a walk where it is possible to see how the local population lives. It is also possible to take a canoe ride in a mangrove forest and then eat something in a beautiful restaurant on the lake; our guide Tom is super helpful, knowledgeable, and very kind. Highly recommended experience
Grazie mille! We are thrilled to hear that everything was organized to perfection and that Tom provided such kind and attentive guidance throughout your tour. Best regards, June
Overall This was an enjoyable and relaxing way to experience Kampong Phluk and the Tonlé Sap, with some good elements, but there are several areas where I think the tour could be improved, particularly around ethical tourism and safety. What I liked Clean, air-conditioned bus with straightforward hotel pick-up and drop-off. An enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide who provided useful context about the area and village. Laminated information sheets were passed around the bus, providing useful geographical information about the Tonlé Sap and surrounding area. The traditional boat journey was a highlight. It was peaceful and relaxing, and the boat was handled confidently. The opportunity to observe aspects of village life rather than simply visiting a conventional tourist attraction. There was no pressure to tip, donate to the school, or take the optional short canoe trip through the mangroves. I felt that the tour was generally conducted safely. Points of concern Ethical tourism I would have liked the tour to acknowledge some of the ethical considerations surrounding visits to the village. In particular, schoolchildren should not be treated as tourist attractions, and tourists should be discouraged from photographing children without permission. The visit to the school raised questions for me. The teacher appeared somewhat frustrated by the constant arrival of tourists, and it was difficult to tell whether these visits are genuinely beneficial to the school or whether they are simply an interruption to normal activities. More information about how the village and school actually benefit from tourism would have been useful. Safety The boat journey was enjoyable, but I was surprised by the apparent lack of safety equipment. I did not see life jackets readily available, although I cannot say with certainty whether they were carried elsewhere on the boat. The boat itself also had slippery surfaces and little or no effective grip on the floor. Given that passengers need to move around while boarding and disembarking, this seems worth addressing. Optional canoe trip The optional short canoe trip through the mangroves was not, as far as I could tell, clearly highlighted in the original trip information, including its additional cost. It would be better to make this explicit when booking so that customers know in advance what is and isn't included. Crocodiles The crocodiles kept at the restaurant may be uncomfortable for some visitors to see. I can only assume that they are kept there primarily as a tourist attraction, and I would have appreciated some explanation of their purpose and the conditions in which they are kept. Guide's presentation The guide was clearly knowledgeable and enthusiastic, but I found some of the commentary difficult to follow. I think the experience would be improved by making the information more concise and focusing on the key points. The laminated information sheets were useful, and a simple booklet or summary of the main information would have made it easier to take everything in. Finally, I felt that there was rather too much encouragement from the guide to leave a positive review. Customers should be encouraged to provide honest feedback rather than feeling that they are expected to write a favourable review. Overall assessment There is a lot to like about this tour: the transport was comfortable, the boat journey was peaceful, and it provided an interesting glimpse into life around the Tonlé Sap. However, I think the operator could make the experience considerably better by giving greater attention to responsible tourism, explaining how the local community benefits from tourism, improving communication about optional costs, and strengthening the boat safety arrangements.
Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful review. We are glad you enjoyed the comfortable transport and peaceful boat trip, but we deeply appreciate your constructive feedback regarding safety equipment, transparent communication of optional activities, and community interaction ethics. We take responsible tourism very seriously and will review these points with our team to ensure better standards and clearer information for all guests. Best regards, June
