Visite gastronomique de 3 heures de St. John's à Terre-Neuve

Description

We loved the tour so very much. We loved the food; it was absolutely delicious, portions were generous, and the restaurants were culturally significant. We also loved our guide Tyra; she was passionate, told fantastic stories and was so warm and welcoming. We loved hearing all of her stories. Would highly recommend. It wasn't too much walking for the seniors and the teenagers loved the food.
Tyra has a real gift for bringing a group together and it sounds like the food did the rest. Thanks so much for this lovely review!
This was a fantastic experience overall. Our guide, Tyra was entertaining, personable and knowledgeable and made the entire tour one of the highlights of the trip so far, with her knowledge and story-telling ability. The food itself - there’s a reason they tell you to show up hungry. We wound up deciding to skip dinner entirely with how much we were given. And overall, the food you get on the tour is all quite good - none of the portions are huge individually, but they do add up to quite a bit. The food overall is quite good - both in quality and in giving you a good overview of Newfoundland cooking. You leave both full and with a good understanding of Newfoundland and St. John’s. I’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city
Thanks for such a thoughtful review and for recommending us! We appreciate you coming out with us.
Great stories and history about the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. Ate a lot of traditional food. Mackenzie was very knowledgeable and fun.
Thanks for taking a walk with us and we're glad you enjoyed your tour with Mackenzie.
Our tour guide, Mackenzie, was great. The food was also quite good but this company falsely advertised the prices and would not take accountability for it. I booked this tour for me, my husband and my 8 year old son (the ticket clearly stated 2 adults one child). When we arrived we were told oh by the way we don’t provide food on this tour for kids under 10. Nowhere on the Viator description did it say anything about kids under 10 not being provided with food on a FOOD TOUR. I had booked 2 adults and 1 child and paid the total that it asked for via Viator. We were given a number to call about this and my husband called it. The man he spoke to was immediately defensive and hostile, stating multiple times “so what, you think you’re just going to get free food for your kid??” It was explained to him multiple times that we paid the stated total for the party of 3 I had booked and we had the ticket as proof I had paid for 2 adults 1 child. When he took a look at the Viator site he stated oh Viator changed the description. Well that’s not our problem. That’s between them and Viator. After having to engage in a very long and unpleasant phone conversation, he had us pay significantly extra for our child to be provided food. I would not have minded paying this when I initially booked the tour but the ticket I was paying for was supposed to include the 3 of us. This was absolutely false advertising and was handled extremely poorly by management. Just be aware that if any families book the tour with kids under 9, it does not include food for those kids despite this not being written anywhere on Viator or the ticket.
We’re sorry that you weren’t happy with your food tour. For the record, the child’s ticket was $0 so only the two adults were paid for. We are a small business and cannot afford to give away free food. The fee we asked you to pay was the same price we pay for the food on the tour. There was no markup. We had the disclaimer written into our tour description but it seems that Viator has used AI to rewrite our description involuntarily and has omitted important information. We have since added more clarifying language elsewhere that free child tickets don’t include a meal. In 4 years of running this tour this is only the 2nd time that anyone has been confused by free child tickets. As for the tone of the phone call, we apologize that we matched your aggressive tone. We should have done better, although we did have to ask you several times to lower your voice while we sorted through the issue. We’re happy that you enjoyed your tour with Mackenzie.
Tyra was excellent guide, keeping the perfect balance between history, interesting facts and stories and of course, introducing the food. Food was excellent and ample; guide was even better! This was a perfect way to spend 3 hours and get fed while being entertained!
Tyra has a real gift for weaving the history and stories in without ever losing sight of the main event. Thanks for this brilliant review!
Fantastic Food Tour with an Unforgettable Guide! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Kate and I had a fantastic time on the St. John’s Food Tour, and a huge part of what made it so memorable was our guide, Tyra. Tyra’s enthusiasm was off the charts — she brought so much energy and personality to the tour that you couldn’t help but have a great time. She has an incredible knowledge of St. John’s and Newfoundland’s history, and she shared so many interesting stories and little details along the way. You could tell how much she genuinely loves Newfoundland and enjoys sharing it with visitors. And of course, there was the food! We had the chance to sample a great variety of Newfoundland dishes and local flavours at six different stops. Everything was enjoyable, but the moose burger was definitely our favourite! It was something completely different and one of those dishes we’ll be talking about long after the trip. What really stood out to us was how much personality Tyra brought to the experience. She is one of those guides you simply won’t forget. Kate and I laughed, learned a lot, ate way too much, and had an awesome afternoon exploring St. John’s. If you’re visiting St. John’s and want to experience some local food while learning about the city and its history, we would definitely recommend this tour. Thanks, Tyra, for making our experience so much fun — you definitely won’t be forgotten! ❤️ Greg & Kate (Toronto)
