Itinéraire
Notre voyage commence au départ du terminal de croisière, direction le parc national de Thingvellir, classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO et lieu d'une immense importance historique et géologique. Ici, vous vous promènerez entre les plaques tectoniques d'Amérique du Nord et d'Eurasie, en assistant à la spectaculaire vallée du rift et en découvrant l'ancien parlement islandais, Alþingi.
Ensuite, nous nous aventurons à la cascade Oxarafoss, nichée dans Thingvellir. Cette cascade pittoresque descend en cascade de la rivière Öxará, offrant de superbes possibilités de photos et un moment de beauté tranquille au milieu du paysage accidenté.
Notre aventure se poursuit vers la zone géothermique de Geysir, où se trouve le célèbre geyser de Strokkur. Préparez-vous à être étonné alors que le Strokkur entre en éruption toutes les quelques minutes, envoyant un puissant jet d'eau bouillante haut dans les airs. We did not have a guided tour as promised. The supposed guide was actually just a driver who was told by the tour company to fill in for the guide who didn’t show. The driver was given a script to read with about 1 paragraph per sight. He read as he drove and it was very difficult to understand what he was saying. He kept swerving over the road as he tried to read and drive at the same time. The group was very nervous and one member took the papers and microphone from him and read the script to the group. I sat behind the driver and saw him reading his messages as he was driving. Every member of the group expressed concern about the dangerous driving and disappointment about not getting a real tour. Simply not up to Viator standards.

The tour was fine once we got underway. The guide was not there when we were supposed to meet so passengers were all panicked that we were in the wrong place. Once we got the bus figured out, and were underway, we realized we could not hear the guide on the microphone , and when we could the guides accent was heavy enough that it took a little of work to understand him. It was a rare warm and sunny day, but there was no air in the bus and we got hot and sleepy. Driver cracked the roof window open, but it wasn’t enough. If the blower worked just to circulate air it would have been better. The areas were beautiful, the tour was long but covered a lot of ground. I think if this hadnt been the 3rd day in a row with long touring days it would have been different. All in all the Golden Circle is worth seeing, the tour itinerary was typical.

Great tour! Pick up was right at the cruise terminal. Our guide Piotr was so easy going, friendly and a great guide. He shared history, personal stories and great Icelandic music. The landscape and sights are stunning- they speak for themselves!

Philipp was a fantastic driver and tour guide. Sitting in the passenger seat next to him, I was able to chat with him a bit. He was always friendly and happy to share information. Thanks to our good time management, we were able to make an extra stop on the return journey. If I could wish for one thing, it would be nice if he shared even more information about the area—legends, stories, myths, the new and the old... (just like on the return trip).

Peter was a great guide. Very informative and humorous. Definitely recommend him as a guide and the tour too. Our tour included the solar eclipse and this portion of the tour was well organized and protected from the rain.

Laura was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and engaging. She is also a very safe driver on some tricky roads and road surfaces. The walk in the National Park was a fascinating start, not strenuous but requiring reasonable mobility, especially if the optional walk to the waterfall is undertaken. Laura didn’t rush us to get back on the coach but allowed everybody the time they needed. The geyser stop was impressive although the prices of refreshments was sky high, not the fault of anybody at Viator! The third scheduled stop was the Gulfoss waterfall which was hugely impressive. Again we were allowed to take our time to admire the spectacular falls and at no point were we rushed. All in all, an excellent experience, reasonably priced. Communication in organising the day by Viator was excellent and Laura was a credit to the company. Our first experience of Viator but not our last.

The day covered all that was in the itinerary and more. We were lucky to have a fine day with blue sky which enhanced our experience. The places we visited were interesting and the driver/guide clearly knew all the information including local details as he lived in the area. The only thing that was not so good was the mini bus, it was old and had no air-conditioning. Apart from that it was a lovely day out and we were given a lot of time and opportunities to explore.
I had a great time in this trip, our driver &guide Fabiola is very nice she introduced us every site we visited in detail.
