Pick up time issues, but the tour was great

The tour itself was fantastic. They picked us up from the hotel took us through the exit Zimbabwe immigration, and we were handed off to someone who took us through the Zambia entry customs and immigration, and then they took us over to the departure site for the boat launch. They had us fill out our forms and we rented water shoes for two dollars US per person so that we didn’t have to worry about our shoes and then we took the five minute jet boat over to Livingston Island where we were able to get changed into bathing suits and then they took us out to a viewpoint for pictures and videos which they do on your phone and then they took us over to the rock pool because the water was too high to do devils pool and Angel’s pool. It was still an amazing experience after that we had a breakfast included, and then they took us back to the boat launch where we handed in our water shoes and returned with our driver to the Zambia exit customs and immigration, and then he proceeded to take us over to the Zimbabwe entry immigration, and we were handed off back to our driver who took us to the hotel. The tour itself was fantastic, but the communication with the tour company was not fantastic. We booked a 7:30 AM Breezer and in the notes it says pick up is between 30 to 60 minutes before that scheduled time. We were unable to reach the company to reconfirm what time they were picking us up so we arrived 30 minutes before at 7 AM to the front desk of our hotel and by 7:45 we still had no driver so we contacted the tour company directly on WhatsApp, they eventually called us back and we were able to sort everything. They did come directly to the hotel so I didn’t have to do everything right over the phone, which was actually quite nice and because we had booked it as Devil‘s pool and the water was too high. They issued us a refund, and we rebooked it as the angels Falls, which was less expensive. other than the miscommunication with times and the lack of communication about reconfirming everything the tour itself was fantastic and very well done

The local activity organiser Tamuka Travel are just excellent, they were caring, careful and excellent in every way

Your Tour operator is Tamuka Travel. They are outstanding. They were excellent and meticulous and made it an expeience of a lifetime! Viator, stop calling it Devil’s Pool which you know very well has been inaccessible for two months because this is high water season. Instead Tamuka found us a pool which was just as good and on the edge of the falls. But accessible when the Devil’s pool and the Angels’ pool are deep inder water when it is the high water season as it is at present. Viator, you didn’t manage to give me a pick-up time. And your customer service bot denied that I was at a valid pick up point. You must sort those things out!

Avoid Tamuka Travels at...

Avoid Tamuka Travels at all costs. They add no value and simply act as a middleman to inflate prices. For a very short transfer, they charged $20 USD each way, and even when I shared the return ride with another traveler, I was still charged the full amount. That alone felt like a blatant rip-off. But the real issue is their complete lack of professionalism and accountability. I had also booked a Hwange tour with them well in advance, and they cancelled it the night before. No proper explanation, no support, and no response whatsoever from the person managing the tour. Just silence. This wasn’t a minor inconvenience, it completely derailed my trip and left me scrambling at the last minute. Between the price gouging, zero communication, and last-minute cancellation, this was one of the worst travel booking experiences I’ve had. I would strongly advise anyone to book directly with tour operators and stay far away from Tamuka Travels.

Réponse de l'opérateur

Hi Geor, Thank you for your feedback, we apologize that your expectations were not met on this experience but however just to clarify on your listed grievances. The Hwange national park is 400km from Victoria falls and initially our minimum number for this tour is 4 people, we had provisionally held your booking as we had other clients whom you were joining that unfortunately where denied entry into Zimbabwe at the immigration and had to go back thus informing us late as the clients did not have signal resulting in us informing you late as well as we could not run the tour with 1 person. Transfers for the devils pool are $20 per person to and from your hotel with a minimum of 2 people and that is clearly stated on all our platforms and the transfers are not stated as private as that would be even more costly. Clients are flexible to organize their own transfers as the transfer cost is not included on the initial tour cost to avoid queries. We sincerely apologies for the inconveniences caused and any miscommunication that could have been there.

A very open experience

The activity was very fresh and open. We were able to carry out the activity very safely with transportation. If you're going to Devil's Pool or Angels Pool, this is the place to go

Incredible experience,...

Incredible experience, guides were safety conscious and we never felt unsafe despite being at the edge of the falls! Plenty of time to hang out at the pool, and the camera guy used our camera phones and took incredible pics and vids. He's definitely got experience doing this, took dozens of pics and vids for us. Plus the breakfast was excellent, surprisingly.

A Must Do if you go to Victoria Falls

This was definitely a highlight while staying in Zimbabwe!! We brought our own water shoes, but now that I know they rent them for $2, I would have left mine at home. The trip to Devil’s Pool was nice and I thought completely safe as you hold hands with the other people in your group and hold onto a rope. I think it’s called the Devil’s Pool not because it’s on the edge of a waterfall but because of the fish “kissing” you that are in the pool with you. Now, when they said that (and “don’t be alarmed”) I was thinking the tiny “pedicure fish” (IYKYK). Nope, these were like 2-3” fish nipping at your legs unless you keep them moving. But it didn’t ruin the experience one bit. The guides are very safe and the videos/pictures they take are phenomenal. There are people that want to do this no matter what and people on the fence about safety. If you’re one of those “safety people”, do it! You won’t regret it! The hot breakfast was also so amazing. I loved this and would definitely do it again!!

Devil's pool visit

It was such an amazing adventure to visit devil's pool. I highly recommend it even to those who are weak swimmers. The guides were highly professional 👌🏾😀

Amazing once in a lifetime opportunity

A once in a lifetime unforgettable activity. You swim to the edge of the falls and see all the water flowing down to the ground while you hang off the edge being photographed by helpful guides

Very efficient, took lots of great pictures

So the most important part - the actual Devils pool - could not have gone better! The guides were very professional, we spent plenty of time at the pool and got some killer pictures - 10 out of 10. There are little fish in the pool which is kinda fun in a weird way! The breakfast was also absolutely marvelous, like an upscale hotel Everything around it however - to me personally - felt extremely rushed. Which I understand in a way because they were trying to beat the crowds and give us more time at the pool. But I could barely keep up with the group, it was like: 5 seconds to put on life vest, 30 seconds for briefing, take off life vest, jump in water, no time for additional pictures.. go go go. At the end of the day my goal was to swim in the pool and that part went flawlessly. Thank you so much, I’m very happy
