An Outstanding experience! You may have trouble booking this tour because the busnissess owner conducts it himself rather than a student driver. He is a Portland native and has 15+ years experience. He is definitely the very best tour guide you will find in Portand. Great visual and learning experience for the waterfalls and Bonneviile dam, powerhouse and salmon fish hatchery. It is worth your effort to try to get on one of his tours.
We took the 1/2 day tour with Shaun as our tour guide. It was a great experience- Shaun gave us so much information about Portland - the areas we visited- the salmon. What a great guide - you can tell how he truly loves Portland and how he is willing to share his knowledge of it. I highly recommend this tour and you will be super lucky if you get Shaun.
Unfortunately we didn’t end up taking the tour. Apparently there was a misunderstanding (very well could have been on my part?). In any event, my terrible review isn’t related to the misunderstanding, lack of refund, offer of future tour or anything of the sort. It’s with the conversation I had when I called to talk to the owner. He was very aggressive and kept explaining loudly to me how he lost money on this tour. I told him that I felt like I was being reprimanded and scolded. He just kept going on louder and louder as I begged to get a word in to suggest some compromises. He lamented that he went to the coast with his girlfriend that weekend and could have booked a bigger tour and so he already missed that bigger booking. He had to take out a 90k loan this last year, his dad was in the hospital, etc. I asked that he keep this professional but he kept telling me I had to call Viator and that Viator took 23 or 25 percent of his profits anyway and he wouldn’t see my money in his hands for a month. If I have a problem, I should call Viator.I felt sorry for him that he couldn’t just handle a customer service issue in a calm manner and let the customer speak without interrupting and talking over me constantly. Maybe it was an off day. This whole Covid thing is making the world crazy so I’m going to chalk it up to that. Most humans want to do good. And that just means, talk to people with dignity and respect.
Josh, the owner/operator made us feel like we were being shown favorite parts of the area by a friend who had lived, fished and hiked this area most of his life-which he has! From pointing out eagle and osprey nests to the Great Pyrenees protecting his flock of sheep, we saw much more than waterfalls!
Outstanding Tour and Excellent Guide (Josh); very knowledgeable. My friend, Barbara and I had a wonderful trip in a nice shuttle; enjoyed the beautiful scenery as well as the history of all explained. This tour made our trip to Portland very memorable. Don't hesitate to go with this group; not only professional, knowledgeable, went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, and felt safe the whole trip. Thank you Josh. We made it home safely after taking the PCH to Santa Barbara from Portland. What a trip. Barbara & Sherry from the Houston area.
We had a great time seeing Columbia River Gorge with Joshua as our guide. He was so knowledgeable with explaining the history, geology, and local knowledge of the area! Due to morning marine layer he re- routed our adventure so that we had the best photo opportunities possible. Excellent guide , accommodating, and we would definitely recommend Sea to Summit Tours to others thinking of Columbia River Gorge or wine tasting in Willamette Valley.
First of all Shawn our driver/guide made this trip so enjoyable. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the area (he was a history major), knew all about how the river was formed, and shared lots of great info about each place we stopped at. The van was comfortable, clean, and easy to get in and out of. My daughter bought several rocks at the gift shops to take home as souvenirs for her sons. We ran into Shawn the next day when we were in Willamette Valley while he was leading a different tour. He gave my daughter a rock and mineral book for her sons. That goes way beyond tour guide duty! The manager at our hotel recommended Sea to Summit for our Columbia River Gorge Tour, and I am so glad we took their tour instead of another one we were looking at. I highly recommend this tour and Shawn as the tour guide!
Spent an absolutely great day with Sea to Summit Tours. Our guide was most knowledgeable in all things concerning the Columbia River and Gorge and surrounding area. Excellent driver, learned lots and would go on another tour with this company in a heart beat.
Thoughtful and knowledgable guide. Well worth it. The bus was well appointed ,clean and comdoertable.

Josh was fantastic. He was a local to the area and very well informed. He kept us moving but not rushed. We saw great waterfalls and scenic overlooks as well as an amazing fish hatchery. I would and will recommend Josh and his tours to all. A truly great tour with no hassles.
