Michael H. the perfect guide for a day that allowed us to know more than Bratislava in Slovakia. I would repeat without hesitation!
An efficient schedule to visit the proposed attractions. The work of the guide/driver was the best possible. Important Note that it is a long and somewhat running program, but it would not be possible to go to the places listed otherwise.
Early into our day we were advised we had been put on the wrong tour. We were expecting to do the Slovakia In A Day Castles, Cities and Legends trip and instead were on a day tour expecting to hike in the High Tatras (incorporating part of our original tour) - something we had no interest in doing nor were prepared for with appropriate footwear. In the end due to bad weather it wasn’t possible to do this part of the hike tour anyway. We saw Beckov Castle from a far away stop on the motorway. We did visit Cicmany Village which was stunning. We had a quick stop for lunch at Bojnice Castle but were running late for the tour so it was a very quick lunch. We were meant to have a guided tour included but had to pay extra for this tour which was underway by the time we got there. It was then determined we wouldn’t visit the High Tatras and instead visited Spana Dolina and Banksa Štiavnica, both beautiful villages. We did not get to see Trencin Castle or spend free time in the village as advertised in the tour we signed up for. By now it was dark, no dinner, arrived back in Bratislava at 9.00pm. A long day. Breakfast at 7:00am, soup at 1:00pm. George was our guide, he was very knowledgeable and did do his best to accommodate everyone. It was disappointing because it wasn’t the day trip we had expected, it was too long a day/night and the van we were travelling in had a window (van door passenger side) that couldn’t be seen out of, so for me no view of the surrounding countryside or scenery for the whole trip.
Wow, what a great tour, I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it!! Our tour guide was fantastic!
Most horrible experience ever! We were crammed in a van with two other parties that were booked for different tours! To try and accommodate all the different itineraries they tried to combine into one tour. We got one thing on our tour and spent hours on the bus! We left at 730 am and got back to hotel at midnight with 13 hours on the bus. No lunch or dinner till 6 pm! The only good thing was our poor guide, George, who tried so hard! We
First I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to Michael, he was fantastic and went above and beyond in his role which is extremely rare in this day and age and added on an extra stop to compensate for the change in the itinerary due to one castle which was not accessible on the day which meant instead of the 12 hours he worked over time as we arrived just after midnight to ensure that we had all seen the beauty Slovakia has to offer. On top of that, I accidentally left my hat in the car and he dropped it off for me at the hotel in his own private time, which was extremely kind of him and just a wonderful gesture and professionalism that reflects his positive attitude and genuine interest in the work he does. He is such a great asset to your company, I must admit. Such a fantastic tour and one of my favourites so far, highly recommended.
It’s a terrible trip, squashed into a mini van and with no space to stretch your legs for 14 hours. Itinerary shown was not followed and no guided tour was given as promised. We were brought to a hike which was never included in the itinerary that wasted 1/2 the day away. Then to a very far off castle in the north with no guided tour and dropped off for lunch. By the time we finished lunch it was already 2.30-3pm. We drove a long way to the next destination to see another castle and a s statue on the way with wine and that was almost 7pm. By the time we reach the cicmany village it was 8.30pm and it was so dark we can’t really see much. Trecin was skipped and so were the beckov castle. I have no idea what the tour was about and what the people planning had in mind?! It was absolutely atrocious and tormenting for us being squeezed in that small space for 14-15h. Please don’t join this tour, no history no explanation no nothing given. There’s no need to travel so far to see a castle, the Devin castle is more than enough.
We visited 3 castles and Bojnice Castle is truly stunning. Trencin is a charming city with plenty of shops and cafes in the city center. Our guide Michael is wonderful and knowledgeable.
Vehicle: 10 times worse than sitting in a middle seat of a low cost airline. Guide: Couldn't hear single word that she said while on the vehicle. Itenary: The guide asked to show us what's said in our booking and then she was trying to figure out what to do. Eventually it was two castles and small village. Summary: All the glowing reviews are based on a particular guide I suppose. This was totally a disappointing and complete waste of time and money.
Very interesting trip, yoi spend a day out of bratislava, enjoy the cointryside and learn about history
