Sloth’s Territory est une réserve privée située à El Tanque, à moins de 10 minutes du centre-ville de La Fortuna (volcan Arenal). Cet établissement, géré par la famille Rodriguez Perez, est un véritable petit bijou qui regorge d'une faune et d'une flore luxuriantes. La randonnée d'observation, une expérience véritablement fascinante, s'effectue sur un sentier sécurisé. Ce parcours longe la réserve au bord de la rivière La Havana et permet d'observer de nombreuses espèces animales dans leur habitat naturel. Les paresseux à deux et à trois doigts, les opossums, les grenouilles rouges, les porcs-épics et diverses espèces d'oiseaux, tels que les toucans, les tangaras, les moucherolles royaux, les colibris, les perroquets, les suceurs de miel et les pics cannelle, viennent enrichir cette expérience. Notre guide expérimenté vous fera découvrir en détail toutes nos attractions et vous fera vivre une expérience unique et inoubliable. Pour notre randonnée nocturne qui commence à 18 h, c'est le moment idéal pour observer les animaux nocturnes. Au cours de cette randonnée, vous aurez l'occasion d'observer différentes espèces de grenouilles, des kinkajous, des serpents, des araignées, des chauves-souris et, peut-être, des paresseux à deux et à trois doigts (mais ce n'est pas l'objectif principal de cette randonnée). Alors que la nuit tombe et que le ciel se pare d'étoiles, notre guide expérimenté veillera à votre sécurité pendant que vous poursuivrez la randonnée à travers notre domaine. Le sentier est accessible à tous les âges ; c'est donc une activité qui plaira à toute la famille. Cette activité dure entre une heure et demie et deux heures. La visite comprend les services d'un guide qualifié tout au long de la randonnée, du matériel professionnel, une lampe de poche pour chaque participant, et se termine par une pause pour déguster des fruits frais de saison. Our trip was absolutely amazing and it was all because of our guide Jason. He did such an amazing job and took his time with us showing as many animals as possible. Even got to see a glass frog and monkeys along with all the sloths, and two had babies with them. Incredible and memorable. So glad we decided to go with this tour instead of the many others to choose from. Go here if you’re looking, it does not disappoint.
It is totally worth it. Great experience, and excellent service. We totally recommend this tour!

Great tour, very educational and saw close to 10 sloths and poison dart frogs (too many to count). Ivan, our guide, was awesome and very informed - he studied eco-tourism in school and it shows.
Sloth's Territory was an amazing experience! Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and attentive, making sure we didn't miss a single detail. We saw so many sloths, and he pointed out all kinds of other wildlife that we would have completely overlooked on our own. His passion for nature made the tour both fun and educational. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the Arenal area!
We saw 6 sloths! Throughout the tour we saw sloths, monkeys, birds, frogs, etc. Ruben was our guide and he friendly, knowledgeable and fun. The tour was a group of 9 and we all had plenty of time to look through the scope and get pictures. The tour is on reforested land which is great too. We really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it to anyone interested in going on a tour.
Sloth’s Territory is located a bit outside of La Fortuna, but it is definitely worth it. Our guide Edson was great and his photos and videos, which he took for us through the telescope, turned out incredibly beautiful. We learned a lot of interesting facts and saw many animals. In addition to both sloth species, also frogs, howler monkeys, and birds. We were even able to watch a keel-billed toucan (that was our daughter's big wish) eating. Thanks again to Edson for the entertaining tour.
We saw at least 5 clothes, leaf cutting ants and lots of poison dart frogs. Quite a trip. Too bad it started raining in middle of our trek so we ended up have a hurry. Binocular does not work too well in rain. Would still highly recommend this tour. Without a guide you will be lost where to see slothes. They are so camouflaged and well hidden.
Our Sloth Territory tour was an absolutely amazing experience and one of the highlights of our trip to Costa Rica! We saw an incredible variety of wildlife, including several sloths—one of the most memorable moments was spotting a mother sloth with her baby nestled on her belly. It was truly a National Geographic-worthy sight and something our family will never forget. We also had the opportunity to observe a toucan up close and capture amazing photos and videos. There is no way we would have spotted many of these animals on our own. The high-powered telescopes used by the guides made all the difference and allowed us to see details we never would have noticed otherwise. Our guide, Jason, was outstanding. His knowledge of Costa Rica's ecology, wildlife, plants, and culture added so much depth to the experience. He was passionate, engaging, and eager to answer questions, making the tour both educational and entertaining. If you're visiting the La Fortuna area, this tour is a must-do. The combination of incredible wildlife sightings, expert guiding, and a deeper appreciation for Costa Rica's unique ecosystem made this an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!
Great experience. Ivania did everything to have the best pictures of the sloths. She is very knowledgeable. We also viewed frogs, birds.... The tour took 2 hours in total and ended with very refreshing watermelon.
