We learned a lot about sloths and were lucky to see both a male and female interact through guide’s scope. We saw about 5 through the scope on a sunny day.
Really knowledgeable guide. Showed us the sloths really well through the telescope. And best of all, showed us 3 sloths and then shared the pictures so we have a super record of what we saw. Really enjoyable!!
Our tour guide Byron was amazing!! His personality and knowledge added so much to the tour. He was able to get us amazing pictures and videos of the sloths!!
The activity took us to several locations around La Fortuna where our very experienced guide Aaron was able to find numerous 2-toed and 3-toed sloths. Aaron is a fantastic guide, extremely friendly and passionate about wildlife and conservation, and with a deep knowledge of sloths and their very important place in evolution. The activity finished at a local open restaurants where we were given beautiful fruits and juices.
A fabulous trip!! Our guide, Byron, was the highlight. So knowledgeable and so funny as well! He and our driver took us on a shared tour with two other families to see sloths. We started our tour at about 6am. It had rained heavily during the night- but as soon as out tour started, the rain stopped!! The tour starts v early, but our driver was some kind of wizard! He was able to spot the sloths from a distance with the naked eye, allowing Byron to train his spotting scope and allow us to see them much more clearly. We saw sloths, small poison frogs, iguanas, fungus, agouti and gorgeous birds of paradise flowers. All throughout, Byron kept us engaged, answering lots of questions and entertained all the younger members of the group. Byron took photos on his phone and then airdropped them to all of us afterwards. It was great to have sych detailed photos as memories of our experience. We stopped for breakfast afterwards- which was either pancakes, Costa Rican breakfast or American style breakfast. All delicious! We had such a great group of people on our tour. They made it feel v special for us. I would definitely recommend Callidryas tours to anyone visiting Arenal.
Our guy knew exactly where to find the sloths. She took plenty of photos to include the sloths and Family❤️. He also captured video. The images were high-quality and shared amongst everyone in the group. Definitely recommend. Also planted out interesting birds and plants.
Byron was absolutely fantastic on a challenging trip. Our group consisted of an English speaking family and a Dutch speaking couple with hearing impairment. I was amazed at Byron’s ability to translate 3 ways and make everyone feel included. The tour was a great success-we saw many sloths and other wildlife. Excellent experience all around. It was worth getting up at 6am.

Very engaging tour guide. Likeable tour. Guide and driver. High quality optical equipment is a great idea and his camera adapter was really good for getting decent pictures. Sloths are quite far away and hidden in trees high up, so it’s not highly engaging. Tour is not hugely informative. Did not have one pair of binoculars for each person. Snack stop at the end was token and on the cheap - a few slices of fruit a small fried thing and juice or coffee. Overall an ok but not excellent experience.
Byron and Manuel were amazing! Very professional and informative. Manuel spotted different animals for us to see! We had an amazing time on this tour!
