The trip was brilliant. The seaside at Cascais is beautiful and the stop at the most western point was interesting and windy (it felt like we were doing that to say we went to the most western point in Europe. We loved the palaces and contrast between gothic and colourful. My mum has limited mobility and was able to do the whole tour. At Pena Palace there is a shuttle bus for €4.50 to get a return trip to the top to save the 20 minute hill walk. Pens palace could have done with an extra 15 minutes as most of the time was used getting there and back. Food wasn’t rushed. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and looked after the group supporting my mums needs with walking. Excellent value for money would recommend.
Very nice tour! The guide is smiley, friendly talk and attitude.
Pedro & Victor were excellent throughout the day despite a change of plan in Sintra due to a road closure. Victor, had the patience of a saint navigating tight roads and our guide Pedro was very knowledgeable and showed good humour throughout the tour, making everyone relaxed. Although it’s a long day it is well worth the effort, Sintra is amazing. Thankyou
We had a fantastic trip from Lisbon to Sintra! Everything was well organized, informative, and enjoyable from start to finish. Our guides and driver—Marcos, Gui, and Vitor—were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience fun and stress-free. Their insights and great sense of humor made the day even more memorable. Thank you all for an amazing tour. Highly recommended!
Very bad experience, not recommended at all. We booked the tour to Sintra/Cascais/Cabo Roca via the Get Your Guide website, the tour was organized by Lanetours. The disorganization was evident right from the start of the tour in the morning, no information was provided, it was unclear which bus to board, etc. There were people who were sent to the wrong bus and then had to turn back to pick them up, a chaos that caused delays for the rest of the day. The guide, Catarina, sighed every time she had to speak into the microphone, she never got up from her seat like other guides do to interact with the passengers, 0 contact, 0 empathy, she was there because she had to be, but 0 enthusiasm. The only thing she kept repeating on loop was that at 6 PM in Lisbon and that C.R.'s house is worth 16 million!! First stop in Cascais and well, more or less, second at Cabo da Roca and just right, but when we arrived in Sintra it was total chaos. The guide did not explain well, to say nothing, there were people with tickets and others without, everything was very confusing. She told us she recommended a restaurant where she goes to eat, thinking it was something typical, but no, it was a kind of Italian place, and although the food was good, the price was outrageous (€6.90 for a beer!!!) and she was nowhere to be seen, it was a total tourist trap! We also have to say that we hadn't looked anything up beforehand and relied on what she told us since we were already short on time. Then came the visit to the Regaidera, once again just minimal explanations, according to her it is not possible because there is no audio guide! But we did see other guides enter with their group without an audio guide or microphone, once again no motivation at all. Upon arrival, she told us to go down, saying she would wait for us below. Although we understand she has seen it many times, there are ways and ways to say it, once again showing zero interest in her group. A couple fell behind, we told her, and she continued as if nothing happened, without caring about the couple who had to find their way to finish the tour. Then came the confusion about the transfer to go up to the castle, since no one provided information, nobody knew where to buy it. We bought it below but then she said it could be bought above, once again chaos and wasted time; it had been smooth below, but up there, with all the people, the fact that you had to buy from machines, people got confused, but of course, this is the time lost from the visit time. She made us go up to a courtyard, once again just minimal explanations about one door, then another, then the courtyard, the chapel, and again she tells us to go down without explaining, and it turns out it was to line up to enter, but we were retracing our steps. At this point, we had already lost half the group because once again, since she explained nothing, people did not understand what to do. There were also people who only bought tickets for the gardens and she told them there was no time for the gardens because they are all the way down, so why offer this option if it cannot be done? A little more and we would have done the visit running, and of course, without explanations. Not to mention, she didn't say once all day where the bathroom is, which is something guides usually do. And to top it all off, when we arrived in Lisbon, she said nothing, Monse said goodbye, got off, waited for the people to get off more or less, and left!! This excursion is worth it because the places are beautiful and it is recommended to see them, but certainly not with Lanetours, a shame considering the cost of the excursion. Thank goodness the group bonded and we had a good time.
Our tour guide was terrible. She did not explain anything. She rushed us all day. She never explained anything. She took off and left saying be back but never told you where the bus would be. We tried to find her on the first stop to ask about toilet she was no where to be found. When we arrived they told you to just wait if name was called another bus will pick you up. We ended up Turing around a wasted 20 minutes to go pick someone who was either late or on another bus.
The driver Eric and the guide Marcos were a great team guiding us and showing the beautiful attractions on this trip! We first only booked the transport, but on the bus we booked tickets for the garden & balconies for the Pena Palace, and entree to the Quinta da Regaleira as well, which I really recommend to do so. Especially entree for Quinta da Regaleira is a MUST on this trip to see. Marcos really took care of everyone and made sure you were back on the bus safe and sound. Big recommendation to do this trip to see more outside of Lisbon!
Thank you very much for your kind feedback. We are delighted to know that Marcos and Eric helped make your experience so enjoyable. It was a pleasure to welcome you, and we hope to see you again soon.
The bus arrived 30 minutes late at our pick up point. After we finally left about 45 minutes late. They had to circle back and pick up one single passenger who they had missed or was late. They then told us that our trip to Cascis, would be 40 minutes instead of one hour. Tour guide spoke to the people in the front of the bus didn’t really communicate with the people at the back of the bus we had no idea what was going on. We followed everybody down to the main Square where she promptly told us that she was leaving us and that we would need to be back to the bus in 40 minutes. Shout out to the bartender in O’Neill‘s pub who actually helped us. We couldn’t find a bathroom for my son and we’re told but had to walk 15 minutes to get to the public restroom. There are definitely better tour operators. Avoid this one the first unpleasant set of guides I have met in my trip. Also, lastly, it does say guided tour in the listing for the trip. So far, this is nothing like a guided tour.
Very beautiful tours and our multilingual guide Nelson...was excellent. Everything was perfect, itinerary, time allocated, and weather :)
Merci beaucoup pour votre retour. Nous sommes ravis de savoir que Nelson a contribué à rendre cette expérience si agréable. Au plaisir de vous accueillir à nouveau bientôt.
100% recommendable. Super interesting visits, and the stops in Sintra are spectacular… the best part was Mario, our guide… information, history, anecdotes that are not found in books… a great experience
Muchas gracias por su comentario. Nos alegra saber que Mário ayudó a que la experiencia fuera tan agradable. Será un placer recibirles de nuevo en Portugal.
