Après que je sois venu vous chercher à votre hôtel à Brasov, nous irons environ une heure et demie en voiture à Viscri pendant que je vous présente les débuts de l'histoire roumaine. La première visite est à Viscri, un charmant village situé à distance dans une zone rurale de Transylvanie. Elle a été établie à l’origine par les Székelys, les premiers colons de Transylvanie, et a ensuite vu un afflux de colons saxons aux XIIe et XIIIe siècles. Le village abrite l'emblématique église fortifiée de Viscri, classée au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO, et l'une des plus connues de Roumanie.
À une demi-heure de route de Viscri, notre prochain arrêt est la forteresse de Sighișoara. Site du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO niché au cœur de la Transylvanie, avec ses bâtiments colorés, ses rues pavées et son architecture bien préservée du XIVe siècle, ce joyau historique vous transporte dans le temps. Abritant l'emblématique tour de l'horloge, Sighișoara est l'endroit où Vlad l'Empaleur a passé ses premières années de vie. Explorez la citadelle médiévale, promenez-vous sur les places enchanteresses et ressentez les échos de contes vieux de plusieurs siècles. La forteresse dégage une beauté intemporelle qui captive chaque visiteur, ce qui en fait une destination incontournable pour les passionnés d'histoire et ceux qui recherchent un voyage magique à travers le passé.
Sur le chemin du retour de Sighisoara, nous nous arrêterons à la forteresse de Rupea. Même s'il ne s'agit pas d'un site de l'UNESCO comme les deux autres que nous venons de visiter, cela en vaut la peine. Ce joyau a été construit par les Saxons de Transylvanie et documenté dès 1324. La forteresse de Rupea se dresse fièrement sur une falaise de basalte de 120 mètres de haut à l'ouest de la ville de Rupea. Cette forteresse médiévale avait une importance stratégique significative au 14ème siècle, servant de lien vital reliant la Transylvanie, la Moldavie et la Valachie. De la forteresse de Rupea, nous reviendrons pendant environ une heure et terminerons cette visite à votre hôtel à Brasov.

Adrian was a knowledgeable guide, giving us detailed historical information on the sites we visited. He was comfortable to be with. He is a good driver in a comfortable vehicle.
We had such a lovely day with Adrian. He was so knowledgeable- I now know more about medieval Transylvania and Vlad the Impaler than I will ever remember, and we also got a sense of the modern politics of Romania. He was very alert to any pace difficulties and adjusted accordingly and even spotted when food was needed. These places are stupendous and we couldn’t have seen them with a more fabulous guide/companion.

Adrian is very knowledgeable, clearly has a passion for his country's history and is so engaging. He was flexible with my planning and requests. The first fort was interesting but the highñights were the two UNESCO cities. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day. He is an incredible and patient guide, he showed us so many interesting things that it would have impossible for us to know. This tour was so great! I love that it was private- as in just my husband and myself with our guide, Adrian! It was a long day but so worth it. Adrian is so knowledgeable, and it’s impressive how much information he shared with us off the top of his head. We had great weather the day we went, so the views we had from up top at each of our stops were spectacular. Our guide was very personable, and when he wasn’t sharing historical information, we engaged in great conversations throughout the day, which made it even better- as if we were spending the day with a new friend who was showing us around a country we had never visited before. We also had a great lunch all together in the afternoon, so that was a nice break. My husband and I are so fascinated with Romania, and even more so now and can’t wait to go back and see/learn more!

Adrian’s depth of knowledge and love of his country’s history made this a truly memorable experience. My wife and I have been on many group tours which just can’t compare to the personalization Adrian was able to accommodate us with since this was a very specialized “private” tour. We visited 3 historical sites, one of which is a UNESCO site, and when taken together they really explained the history of Transylvania and its importance on the world stage and enormous global events that continue to shape our common history.
