I ended up having a one-on-one tour, which made the experience feel very personal and relaxed. My guide tailored the evening based on what I had already tried and where I had been, which I really appreciated after traveling through multiple cities. We spent time walking through back alleys and small market streets, even on a Sunday evening, which gave a different and more local perspective of Tokyo. It wasn’t rushed, and there was space to simply take it all in. What stood out most was how thoughtful the experience was. It didn’t feel scripted, and the guide adjusted naturally throughout the evening. He even helped me find the last souvenir I had been looking for, which was a nice unexpected touch. Overall, a very enjoyable and genuine way to end my trip.

Had a rocky start as meeting point once more did was nit correct but a beautiful local lady dropped what she was doing to help me reach out to the guide and helped us meet up as l was the only one on the tour luckily no one else was put out.We started with a quick walk around and then a truly amazing meal which was very generous from there my tour guide asked me if there was anything l wanted to do and he then personalised the tour to what l wanted to do and as l had another group booking stright after we made our way towards my dinner booking which was truly amazing after visiting some shops and finding everything l wanted we also visited a few temple and then another geat meal in a tucked away restaurant which is generally a local haunt then made our way through the market to the train station with perfect directions to my next experience thank you so much to my guide Naoto Kato it was an honour spending the day with you.

We’re also touched by the kindness of the local lady who helped you — moments like these truly reflect the warmth and hospitality of Japan. We’re delighted that once the tour began, you were able to fully enjoy the experience, from the generous and delicious meals to the personalized itinerary tailored to your interests. Creating flexible, guest-focused experiences is at the heart of what we do at Washoku Club, and we’re so happy to know this made your day special. Thank you as well for your kind words about your guide, Naoto Kato. We will be sure to share your appreciation with him — it will mean a great deal. It was truly our honor to host you and be part of such a memorable day filled with food, culture, temples, and local discoveries. At Washoku Club, we believe that a great tour is not only about what you see or taste, but also about the stories, culture, and personal connections that make each experience truly memorable. We’re so happy to know that Naoto helped create that for you. Thank you very much for your high recommendation. We would be honored to welcome you again on another cultural or culinary journey in Osaka or Kyoto with us in the future. Arigato and warm regards, Aya Washoku Club Culture and Food Tours 🌸
It’s not worth the money. The guide Kato was nice, the food was good but it was very short, and we only ate at 3 places for a very cheap price. Kato decided to finish 1h early so we felt a bit ripped off: 300$+ for 3 hours and ate for 100$ at most. The guide said he had a budget for the food so I’m not sure what was his calculation, but it was a good payday for him I guess. He even cashed in the points for the drinks we’ve paid which is a weird thing to do without asking first. It’s also a bit awkward to have someone at the table who only eats what you’re giving him. We expected a more rich experience with explanations on specific stuff we were eating or drinking. Instead it felt like we were just being fed. Not recommended
Dear Customer Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. While we’re truly sorry to hear that the tour didn’t meet your expectations, we genuinely appreciate the level of detail in your feedback — it helped bring important issues to our attention. Please know that we’ve already initiated an internal review and are investigating the situation directly with the guide involved. What you described is not reflective of the standards we set for our experiences, and we are taking this seriously to ensure accountability and prevent similar situations in the future. We’re committed to delivering thoughtful, high-quality experiences that go beyond just food — we aim for connection, storytelling, and satisfaction in every detail. We're sorry this wasn’t fully reflected in your case. We appreciate your honesty, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you again in the future to show you the level of care and quality we’re truly known for. Warm regards, Washoku Club Culture and Food Tours Team
Highly recommended. Why? Because this gets you away from the standard "touristy" destinations that everybody goes to, such as Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ginza. Here, you get to see a more earthy side of Tokyo that some call "Salaryman Paradise." I thought it was very interesting, including a stand up sushi bar that I otherwise would never have gone to. Caveat: If you are expecting glitz and glamour, this is not the tour for you. This is not high brow entertainment. You won't see many Westerners or tour busses in this area.
Hello our dear guest, Thank you so much, Mitchell, for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience. At Washoku Club culture and food tours, our mission is to take travelers beyond the obvious and let them experience Japan through authentic food and local neighborhoods. Our guides work hard to customize each experience and bring out the real flavor of the city, whether it’s the bustling streets of Shimbashi or the more iconic areas like Shibuya or Shinjuku. It makes us happy to know you enjoyed discovering the “Salaryman Paradise” side of Tokyo with us. We’d be absolutely delighted to welcome you again on another foodie adventure—perhaps our Tokyo Walking Food Tour or Osaka Food Tour and Kyoto Food Tour. There’s always more deliciousness waiting for you! Thank you Arigato Washoku Club Culture and Food Tours Team

Hiromi was an excellent guide once again. She actually tailored this tour based on my conversations the previous night in the Shibuya tour. I’m really glad to do Shimbashi as it has a mix of everything - from eating where locals eat in Shimbashi, to amazing sky scaper views of Tokyo, to the extravagant night lights of Ginza which ended at a kissaten (classic Japanese cafe) with pancakes.

It was a great tour! Kato-san was awesome and took us to 3 great eating places. The first was unique takoyaki.. it was great. We would have never had this. He even took us on walking tour around the area. And pointed out places to come back to. Would highly recommend Kato-san and this tour!

We so appreciated Naoto’s experience navigating around the busy Shimbashi and Ginza district, so we could get an insiders guide to all the best food. It was very convenient to walk right into two restaurants (Japanese BBQ and Sushi) and have Naoto order everything for us and explain it all. Sometimes even when you are surrounded by so much food, it can be overwhelming choosing where to go. This is where a guide comes in handy! Highly recommend! It was fun to end the tour in the Ginza district and take in all the beautiful stores.

I enjoyed exploring parts of Tokyo with my tour guide and photographer, Akira. We enjoyed local, popular dishes and took a detour when I mentioned classical music where we went to a special classical music cafe. Professional service and personalized experience.
