La rivière Suzhou, également connue sous le nom de Suzhou Creek, est une rivière importante de Shanghai, en Chine. Historiquement, il a servi de voie de transport importante et a été autrefois fortement pollué par l'industrialisation. Au cours des dernières décennies, de vastes efforts de nettoyage ont revitalisé la rivière, en faisant une zone pittoresque avec des parcs, des sentiers pédestres et des attractions culturelles. Il symbolise désormais la transformation et l'engagement de Shanghai en faveur de la durabilité urbaine.
Ouvert en 1924, il était autrefois le plus grand bureau de poste d'Asie et le cœur des communications internationales de la Chine. Son design grandiose et classique – avec la tour de l’horloge emblématique et ses sculptures majestueuses – devait montrer au monde entier la puissance et la fiabilité du service postal moderne. C'est toujours un bureau de poste fonctionnel avec une belle salle publique. À l'intérieur, vous trouverez une superbe grande salle qui fonctionne encore aujourd'hui, et un musée qui présente tout, des anciens systèmes de messagerie aux camions de courrier vintage. Il symbolise parfaitement le vieux Shanghai : un point de rencontre de l'Est et de l'Ouest, de la tradition et de la modernité à couper le souffle.
Le parc Huangpu est un lieu de contradictions fascinantes, retenant de multiples couches de l'histoire de Shanghai à l'intérieur de sa frontière. C'est un monument à l'exclusion culturelle et aux loisirs, et une clé pour comprendre la planification visionnaire qui a évité au Bund de devenir un simple chantier naval et en a fait le symbole emblématique de Shanghai.
Le Bund – le monument le plus emblématique de Shanghai et un musée d'architecture en plein air. Cette magnifique promenade riveraine d'un kilomètre de long présente une collection étonnante de 52 grands bâtiments des années 1920 et 30, abritant autrefois les plus grandes banques, maisons de commerce et clubs du monde. C'est pourquoi elle était connue sous le nom de "Wall Street of the East". C'est le symbole parfait de Shanghai elle-même : une ville tournée vers l'avenir pour toujours, mais bâtie sur une histoire riche et puissante.
Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street est la rue shopping la plus célèbre et une attraction touristique majeure de Shanghai, en Chine. Souvent appelée « rue shopping n°1 de Chine », elle s'étend sur environ 1,5 kilomètre à travers le cœur de la ville.
Le Bund, à l'origine le HSBC Building, est un monument historique de Shanghai et un chef-d'œuvre de l'architecture néo-classique. Achevé en 1923, il était autrefois salué comme « le bâtiment le plus luxueux entre le canal de Suez et le détroit de Béring ».
L'église Saint-Joseph, située au 36 South Sichuan Road dans le district de Huangpu à Shanghai, est une église catholique historique construite entre 1860 et 1861. En tant que plus ancienne église catholique de l'ancienne colonie internationale de Shanghai, elle servait autrefois de résidence épiscopale et de trésor diocésain. L'architecture combine les styles roman et gothique, avec une disposition en croix latine, un seul clocher et des vitraux distinctifs. Inscrite au patrimoine municipal de Shanghai en 1994, l'église reste aujourd'hui un lieu de culte actif, organisant régulièrement des messes pour la communauté catholique locale.
Bienvenue dans l'incroyable Yuyuan Bazaar, un labyrinthe animé de bâtiments traditionnels maintenant remplis de maisons de thé, de jardins classiques, d'étals de souvenirs et de certains des meilleurs plats de rue de Shanghai - c'est l'endroit où déguster de célèbres xiaolongbao (boulettes de soupe)!

This was probably the best choice I made to get introduced to Shanghai. It is such a big city that it is easy to get overwhelmed by the infinite number of things to do. This city tour was a great start. It gave me a sense of the history, how the modern Shanghai was made, how foreign presence influenced the fate of the city; how the city was developed… I could better understand the stories behind the buildings, the formation the famous neighborhoods… I would have miss so much without this tour! I am really greatfull to Jane, our tour guide. She has great knowledge of the city and its history. She knows how to make things interesting for a diverses audience and knows how to find the right balance to maintain the interest of everyone. Actuelle after this first tour I booked another one to discover the French Concession and I was, once again, more than happy with my decision! I definitely recommend it, especially for (but not restricted to) the first timers.

One of the best tours.., great histroy of Shanghai and not touristy spots. Strongly recommend for everyone. Easy pace, and Jane had all manner of historical photographs to show the evolution of Shanghai. I leant a lot and had a great time walking trhough this lovely city.

We did a tour with Jane in Shanghai and she was honestly the highlight of our trip. What we loved most was how she kept us grounded; she was constantly pointing out where we were in relation to the rest of the city, which helped the history actually make sense instead of just being a list of dates. Jane is also incredibly honest. If we asked something super niche that she didn't know, she’d just say so—which I really preferred over someone making up an answer. She also took the time to chat with us about what daily life is actually like in China today, answering all our questions about things that seemed so different from life back home in Europe. A few things that really made the difference: The Pace: She planned reasonable breaks at spots where there was actually somewhere to sit. My partner was especially grateful that Jane could keep the explanation going while we caught our breath. Unexpected Knowledge: She has a great interest in local flowers/plants, which was a lovely surprise. We learned things we never would have expected! Hidden Spots: She took us through back-alleys and "hidden" spots that you definitely won’t find in an online guide. Plus, her food recommendations were 10/10. If you want a guide who is authentic, down-to-earth, and knows the city inside out, definitely look for Jane!
