Fantastic heritage tour of Ahmedabad by the tour company Shashi Gupta Agora Voyages Pvt. Ltd. Our tour guide Jitu was great, very knowledgeable and helpful. He took the time to answer our questions and make the sites come to life. Our driver was great - driving in India is something else! The four of us really enjoyed the day and would highly recommend. Extra bonus was all the photos he took of us and the fact they were willing to pick up in GiFT City. We have several colleagues ping over the next few months and will be recommending.
Dear Ms. McKeown, Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share your experience! We’re delighted to hear that you and your friends enjoyed the Ahmedabad Heritage Trail and that Jitu made the history and culture come alive for you. He will be very happy to know his knowledge, photos, and enthusiasm added to your day. We’re also glad the pick-up from GIFT City was convenient and that you felt well looked after throughout — and yes, Indian traffic is definitely an adventure in itself! It truly means a lot that you’ll be recommending us to your colleagues. We look forward to welcoming them — and hopefully you again — on another journey with Agora Voyages Pvt. Ltd. Warm regards, Shashi Gupta
A little bit expensive, but what you pay for is the fact that you are RESERVED. You wont be stressing over how to wing it with the help of your hotel, etc. Tour operator Agora is very attentive to pre-tour questions and concerns. He worked out our pickup spot well in advance, as I told him via tripadvisor that our hotel was not on Agora's list of pickup spots. So we booked a tuk-tuk driver to take us to the start zone. Some people may not like this. If you book driver-only (it's an option here), you may experience what we did. Our driver (NOTES: a nice car, bottles of water inside for us, seat belt "female" clips missing, so no seat belts possible) clearly did not know the city well, and made 4 wrong turns throughout the day. We were told by the tour operator to not expect any English language, so we just began the tour letting him drive us to the first thing. And it was a flower show in a modern exhibition hall, completely not on our tour. I don't think he was informed by Agora that we were taking this Heritage itinerary. I had to WhatsApp tour operator and he just replied, show him the list of where you want to go, and driver will work it out. Fair enough, as driver spent 09:00 to 16:30 with us, and he took us to each place we wanted to go, including two step wells, a particular heritage hotel for lunch, and even a supermarket at the end of the day, which were all great. But at one of the step wells he dropped us off 150 to 200 meters away from the ticket booth and entrance. Sigh. I was really surprised that this driver was chosen by Agora Voyages for a tripadvisor booking, as there's a quality factor to consider. Don't get me wrong, driver was pleasant and never once complained that we chose about 9 things to cram into the day. We never lost each other, and he never showed signs of stress. But he just wasn't familiar with the driving routes needed for a mosque and temple itinerary in this city.
Dear Ms. Thorpe, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate your feedback and are pleased to know that, overall, the day worked well for you and that you were able to visit all the sites you wished to include at a relaxed pace. We would like to clarify for future travellers that this booking was for our Car-Only service, which includes only the private vehicle and driver. As clearly communicated at the time of booking, this option does not include a guide, monument entrance fees, or meals. The driver speaks basic English and remains with the vehicle while guests explore the sites independently. For car-only bookings, guests are informed that the driver follows the sightseeing itinerary in sequence, starting with the location closest to the hotel. If any customisation or reordering of sites is preferred, we kindly request that guests inform the driver at the start of the day so the route can be planned efficiently. As you noted, once this was clarified, the driver was happy to accommodate all requested stops and spent the full day with you without any complaint. Please also note that at certain heritage sites and monuments, vehicle access is restricted, and cars are required to park at designated parking areas. In such cases, a short walk from the parking area to the entrance gate is unavoidable and is governed by local traffic and monument regulations beyond our control. That said, we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused by route unfamiliarity during the day. While the driver was courteous, calm, and accommodating throughout, we agree that local route familiarity is an important quality standard. Your feedback has been shared internally so we can further strengthen our driver briefings and assignments for future tours. We are glad that our team was responsive to your messages and that the experience ultimately met your travel goals. Thank you once again for choosing Agora Voyages and for helping us improve through your valuable insights. We wish you many more enjoyable journeys ahead. Warm regards, Shashi Gupta & Team Agora Voyages
We took the day Heritage Trail tour of Ahmedabad with Jitendra’s as our guide. Booked through TripAdvisor. The tour included walking through the narrow and interesting streets of old town, visits to Jain temple, Swaminarayan temple (the original one), masjid ( a couple) and the Adalaj Stepwell. Jitendra’s was well informed and explained the architecture in detail and educated on the history of those time periods. All in all it was an excellent tour and we would strongly recommend the tour to all new visitors to Ahmedabad.

I absolutely loved the Ahmedabad Heritage Trail. Historical walks like this always get me thinking about those who came before us—who walked these same roads, what their lives looked like, and how the city has evolved over time. The architecture along the trail is simply stunning—some buildings are true masterpieces that speak volumes about the city’s rich cultural legacy. It was a moving and memorable experience, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates history, art, or just a deeper connection to place.

Our Ahmedabad Heritage Trail was a truly memorable journey, made even more special by our exceptional driver, Ramesh, and knowledgeable guide, Paras. Ramesh was a fantastic driver, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride throughout the day. He was punctual, friendly, and always ready with a helpful tip or two, making our trip stress-free and enjoyable. Paras, our guide, was an absolute gem! His deep understanding of Ahmedabad's rich history and heritage brought each monument and site to life. He took us through the city’s fascinating stories, from the intricate architecture of the pols to the ancient stepwells, and his passion for the city's culture was contagious. Both Ramesh and Paras went above and beyond to make sure we had a seamless experience, and I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore Ahmedabad’s heritage. Thanks to them, it was a day full of learning, laughter, and unforgettable memories!
Ahmedabad is rich with historical and architectural monuments and temples. But your tour oprators ruined my experience. The driver totally blank about the itinerary!!! He shocked me by questioning me "where you go now?" Then called to someone after seeing my copy of the tour content. He repeated same question after each place. He is lovely guy, but he never been tour driver. He even doesn't know the way and how to plan trip on google map. The places in itinerary use names different from names localls call, that made more confusing. It seems to me that made the drivers doesn't understand itinerary. Moreover, your online sale persons don't know well about destination Ahmadabad. When I asked about places they said they need to check with local colleagues. On other hand, Ahmadabad operators told me to call Dehli person about admission!!! I never could imagine such a poor tour operations.
Dear Phuonglan, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your Ahmedabad Heritage Trail experience. We genuinely apologize for any inconvenience you faced during the tour. Upon reviewing your booking details, we note that you opted for the transport-only option, and your driver was instructed to provide transportation and follow a list of sightseeing places. We communicated that the driver might not be fluent in English, and as per your preference, he was instructed to prioritize the points of interest you highlighted. Regarding the driver's knowledge of the itinerary and Google Maps usage, we appreciate your feedback. We will conduct additional training to enhance the drivers' understanding of the tour routes and encourage better communication. Additionally, we apologize if there was any confusion about admission fees. As communicated in the confirmation, the transport-only option does not cover entrance fees, and they are to be paid directly at the monuments. We understand the importance of clear communication, and we will review our processes to ensure travelers are well-informed. We appreciate your patience and understanding. Your insights are valuable as we strive to enhance our services. If you have any further concerns, please feel free to contact us directly. Warm regards, Meenakshi
It is imperative to start the tour early 7/8h as there is prayer in Jain and Swaminarayan temples and it is very interesting. Then the streets are quieter after 11:00 it's hell, motorcycles, pedestrians, cars, a nightmare. The old town is interesting with some beautiful wooden facades but on the whole the houses are in a sad state you should not have prejudices to detect beauty. As elsewhere in Gujarat people are very friendly. Very beautiful mosques and very beautiful Jain temples do not hesitate to enter but: No photos.....
As traveller we have visited different cities and countries but most amazing, safest, varieties of foods, great river front, best of its time step wells, culture, architecture are so much amazing one must have to be here once in lifetime. Round the years people's of Ahmedabad enjoying any of festival or celebrating. People here just want excuse to celebrate any occasions.
Dear Janpatelin, Thanks for sharing your trip experience. Kind regards, Meenakshi
