L’inauguration du musée archéologique de Varna et son développement ultérieur sont étroitement liés aux noms des deux frères Herman et Karel Škorpil, de nationalité tchèque, venus apporter leur contribution à l’éducation et à la culture de leur nation soeur slave après la libération de la Bulgarie le joug turc. En 1894, ils s'installèrent définitivement à Varna. Le 12 décembre 1901, un groupe de personnalités socialement actives et d'enseignants créa la Société archéologique de Varna qui, depuis des décennies, était le principal moteur de l'intérêt et de l'étude de l'histoire de Varna, de la région de Varna et du nord-est de la Bulgarie. L'inauguration d'un musée archéologique était une tâche de première importance pour la Société. Le bâtiment a été construit à l'origine pour être un lycée pour filles entre 1892 et 1898, après la conception du célèbre architecte bulgare Petko Momchilov. Le style architectural est une nouvelle renaissance. Le bâtiment comprend un sous-sol et deux étages. Il forme presque un carré complet et comprend une cour intérieure spacieuse. Certaines des chambres et des couloirs sont décorés de peintures murales. Un couloir continu traverse tout le bâtiment et mène aux salles d'exposition.

This museum is like everything in Bulgary, the content is interesting but the people are not ready for tourism. We arrived at the museum with children 1 hour before the closure. They didn't want to sold ticket for an hour. We explained that it was ok for us as we were with children. They accepted but asked us to be at the exist 10 minutes before the closure. After 15 minutes, some guardians asked already us to move to the exit. We finally did the full visit in 45 minutes after having be asked 5 times to move to the exit. Nothing ready for french people. No audio guide proposed as mentioned on the website. Ps. Don't visit yhe toilet...
This activity gave us the guides notes and an entry which made me buy it. Great value for money. Recommend to anyone on an individual trip. In my case it was with the business partners.
While in Varna we booked this activity which features an e-guide and entrance to the Archaeological museum. It's wonderful to have all the guides notes and to explore at your own pace. Real bargain with the entry.
This was a total rip off. I spent $11.50 for admission instead of a few lev. They gave me nothing & told me to read the English on the walls. You should be ashamed of yourselves for selling this
