Anna was an amazing tour guide!!! We stopped at the cutest place on the way to Hallstatt, St Wolfgang. She was so informative and patient. We ate at a great local place in Hallstatt, that we would never have seen without her. She gave us so much info on the trip! Love her and the tour!!! We will use her when we come back for the Christmas markets.
Ok so I have done quite a few Viator tours and this one definitely needs some work. It was a self guided tour that I never even went past the second stop. I couldn’t tell where everything was. It was such a small town and CROWDED! We drove there from Salzburg and had to park all the way across the lake. It was far and we actually got a taxi. We had a nice lunch in the main square and a lovely boat ride on the lake but this town definitely does not care for the tourists. There are signs all over asking to be quiet (which I totally understand). Then when we had to go back to the car - we couldn’t find any way back. And there is not a shuttle to the parking lots. Had to wait until after 3 before we saw a taxi. We definitely don’t mind walking, but it was probably 4-5 miles to the lot. So maybe a small group tour would have been better to see Hallstat. The town itself was absolutely beautiful though. Glad I saw it but wished there was a better tour offered.
Dear Allison, thank you very much for your feed back. But this review is not about self-guided tour, but about the town Hallstatt, which very small and has tiny space for parking. You did drive there your self and not with any of our services. And you have took responsibility on yourself of getting there by rental car. That is general problem of town, but not the Self-guided walking tour. In Self-guided tour you walk in town itself on your own following navigation in the App. It is walking tour and not driving or car parking tour. Of course if you would reply to our messages or asked us advice on best way to get to town, we would provide you with it. Unfortunately we did get any communication/message back from you after we messaged you several times. Your review you could copy to overall Google reviews of town Hallstatt, but not to this tour. Hallstatt has problems of over tourism and everyone knows that. We are not responsible on crowd management in Hallstatt, but city management is responsible for that. Best wishes from Austria and nice trips, Anna
I enjoyed the tour: for all the best spots to take pictures I dreamed to take there were clear instructions; it was intereting to find the hidden gems of Hallstatt; the tour was exciting and helpful. Using a self-guided tour gave me a flexibility to walk around as a local, to stop and resume the tour at my convenience.
The service was only needed for one of us and feel that the duplicative signup was a waste of money, not to mention most of the narrative is provided for free at the site
Dear James, I am very sad to hear that feed back. This tour is created based on my own tour in Hallstatt and it idea is to show you best photo points, panoramic views, special attractions and gives recommendation where to have lunch/coffee break. It has navigation inside of App, and you follow the route in the way you do not need to search for them yourself. It is unique, as no other audio-guide tour offers this way to explore town. This tour is about to enjoy a walk in town, see most beautiful photo places with as fewer crowds of tourists as possible and do non-standard walk in town to avoid crowds and to be able to see more picturesque views and outlooks. It is not comprehensive historical tour, but still provide you with information about most interesting sights on the way. In Self-guided tour you listen stories which are not written on narratives in town as tour was created independently and has other idea. And even signs with narratives you need to find first if you want to read them. For comprehensive history tour we recommend In-person guide and not a self-guided tour. You can purchase as many self-guided tours as you find enough for you. One tour valid for 1 device (phone). Some customers want to have individual tour for each person (as you may use headphones) and some want 1 for couple and etc. It is your decision how many to buy. We wish you a lovely stay in Austria and recommend to read description of any tour before you purchase it. As well as ask questions if something unclear, as we are always happy to reply and help !
Easy to use and very informative. Great photo opportunities and beautiful views. Worth the time and money.
Don't really like to travel with guides, but having an audio guide gives freedom to have tourist expert near you and easily ignore him/her =) Tour is of very good quality though, totally recommend.
We loved this self-guided tour. Very clear navigation and informative description. We were travelling with car and Anna advised us when to start from Salzburg to be able to get parking space and where to park having wheel chair passenger with us. Thank you very much!
The self-guided tour was okay. The problem was you could not go backwards, if you needed to or skipped ahead by mistake. It took us to some areas of Hallstatt that yon may miss, such as the church, cemetery and the building that holds all of the bones.
Dear Randy, thank you for your message. The App has very easy navigation system. To go back in the Navigation, you need just scroll back to the previous step with you finger. That is really all you need to do. Tour includes all the places you mentioned: church and the cemetery and the building that holds all of the bones. This is all on the way of the Tour. The only you need to do is follow the navigation. If you have questions how to manage App, you always has online support and can write or call. You have got all contact details in the booking. Best wishes, and have a nice stay in Austria
