Nos familles vivent depuis de nombreuses générations à Varanasi, ce qui nous permet de connaître tous les coins cachés de cette belle et ancienne ville, ainsi que des histoires fascinantes sur nos traditions, notre histoire, notre religion et des gens ordinaires comme nous. Varanasi représente l'âme de l'Inde. Un visiteur seul ne peut jamais espérer découvrir plus qu'une fraction de ses secrets. Pourtant, avec notre aide, vous pourrez découvrir l'essence de cette ville captivante. Notre visite commencera au point de rendez-vous, d'où nous embarquerons pour un voyage de 3 heures pour découvrir les sites historiques et religieux les plus importants. Nous visiterons les Ghâts, les crématoriums, les temples, les rues étroites, les marchés et les stands de nourriture populaires, mais aussi des endroits moins touristiques qui sont essentiels pour comprendre la réalité de Varanasi moderne. Au cours de notre visite, nous partagerons avec vous des informations historiques et d'autres faits importants, mais nous vous raconterons également des histoires intéressantes sur notre vie quotidienne, notre gastronomie et nos coutumes.

Dashaswamedh Ghat: - Dashashwamedh ghat est l'un des ghat les plus anciens, les plus spectaculaires et les plus importants, situé sur la rive du Gange, près de l'ancien temple Vishwanath dans le Kashi. Le sens littéral du Dashashwamedh est le Ghat (bord de la rivière) des dix chevaux sacrifiés (tiret signifie 10, ashwa signifie cheval, medh signifie sacrifice). Il existe deux mythologies à propos du ghat, à savoir que le Seigneur Brahma a créé le ghat Dashashwamedh afin d'accueillir le Seigneur Shiva, et la seconde est que le Seigneur Brahma a sacrifié les dix chevaux dans un yajna ici. Ce ghat est célèbre pour l'Agni Pooja qui se tient ici tous les jours le soir par un groupe de prêtres dédiés au Seigneur Shiva, au Gange, à Surya, à Agni ainsi qu'à l'univers entier.
Le temple Vishalakshi, également connu sous le nom de temple Vishalakshi Gauri, est l'un des temples les plus importants de Varanasi qui appartient à la déesse Vishalakshi. La déesse Vishalakshi est un aspect de la déesse Parvati ou Gauri et on pense qu'elle a de grands yeux comme son nom l'indique également " Vishalakshi = Vishal (grand) + akshi (yeux). " Elle est située au Mir Ghat sur les rives du Fleuve Gange. Le temple est considéré comme une Shakti Pitha dédiée à la Mère Divine hindoue, Adi Shakti. Le lieu saint populaire de Varanasi fait partie de la célèbre triade de temples, Kanchi Kamakshi, Madurai Meenakshi et Kashi Visalakshi. On considère que les boucles d'oreilles ou kundal de la déesse Sati étaient tombées ici.
Temple népalais : - Shri Samrajeswar Pashupatinath Mahadev Mandir, également connu sous le nom de Mandir népalais, Kanthwala Mandir et Mini Khajuraho, est l'un des temples les plus anciens et les plus célèbres de la ville sainte de Varanasi. Ce temple a une grande importance religieuse dans l'hindouisme et est dédié au Seigneur Shiva. Le mandir est fait de terre cuite, de pierre et de bois et a duré trois décennies. Le bois est résistant aux termites. Il est construit dans un style architectural népalais et est entouré de tamariniers et de ficus religiosa (peepal).
Manikarnika Ghat : - Ce Ghat est célèbre pour être le lieu de crémation sacré pour les hindous. Manikarnika Ghat est l'un des lieux de crémation les plus sacrés parmi les rives sacrées des rivières (Ghats), le long du Gange. Dans l'hindouisme, la mort est considérée comme une porte d'entrée vers une autre vie marquée par le résultat de son karma. On pense que l'âme humaine atteint moksha et brise ainsi le cycle des renaissances lorsqu'elle est incinérée ici. Le puits du ghat s'appelle Manikarnika Kund et a été construit par le Seigneur Vishnu.
Selon le Seigneur Vishnu, les fidèles qui prennent un bain à Manikarnika et adorent Manikarnikeshwar ne reverront pas le ventre de leur mère (ce qui signifie qu’il n’y aura pas de renaissance). Le linga est situé sous terre, les fidèles peuvent descendre jusqu'en bas pour avoir un darshan de Shri Manikarnikeshwar Mahadev.

I had the chance to discover Varanasi with Akash, and this experience will undoubtedly remain one of the highlights of my stay. An unforgettable experience with Akash on the Hidden Secrets Varanasi tour. This was the highlight of our visit to Varanasi. Akash was professional, knowledgeable and fun. He explained a lot of the intricacies of Hinduism, the crematiion process and traditions which gave us a deeper insight to this crazy city! He looked after us very well, would thoroughly recommenf.
This tour in Varanasi was really very interesting. The guide was super nice and helpful and the places visited (well 5) very charming. We also had access to a place usually closed to the public. Recommended! Duration about 3 hours.

Our tour included the beautiful Nepali Temple, the powerful and humbling Manikarnika Ghat, the fascinating underground Manikarnikeshwar Mahadev Temple, the unique leaning Ratneshwar Mahadev Temple, and the historic Manikarnika Kund. Akash was born and raised in these very streets, and it truly shows. His knowledge, stories, and deep connection to the city made everything come alive in a way we would have never experienced on our own. He is incredibly patient and thoughtfully curated the tour both in terms of timing and the places we visited. There is simply no way we would have seen Varanasi like this without him. This was probably the best walking tour I ever did! Badal is so knowledgable. He shared all the details behind Varanasis's temples, streets, architecture and cultural aspects. But what I personally found the most special, was his way of talking and sharing all the information, both in a very peaceful and relaxed mannet but also active and engaging. Definetly recommend!
Niwas was a very good guide, he took us to many places in the city center that otherwise I definitely would not have found by myself. He answered all of our questions and grave us plenty of time to take photos and absorb the intensity of the tour. Another good thing is that there were no shop visits, but if you want it the guide can recommend some places to lunch after the tour end.
