David was our friendly and capable guide who got us suited and booted in the office and explained how tour drive snowmobile and hand signals to be safe. We walked about 5 mins to the snowmobiles. A wonderful experience with beautiful scenery (albeit cold wind in your face - if helmet visor is up)!! We stopped a couple of times and David obliged in taking some photos for us (including jumping into snow - for someone who does not live anywhere near snow) Loved every minute of it!!
Snowmobile tour of about fifteen km around Saariselkä, with modern means and thermal equipment suitable for the freezing climate. Very kind and helpful guide.
Driving a snowmobile in a heavy snow field left me feeling exhilarated and impressed by the scenery of the heavy snow field. The driving lecture was very polite and easy to understand. I was a beginner, but I was able to drive without any problems. However, unlike the snow in Japan, it is hard, so I think you need some brawn to operate the steering wheel. The staff would line up and run with us, so even when we were in trouble, they would come right to us. During the intermission, we were served warm blueberry juice and cookies, which was a relief. They also took pictures. If I wanted to, it would have been better if I had a picture of the participant in the middle of the race.
Beautiful scenery and great experience. Highly recommended!! Long, great, safe, guided, thermals included.
We both absolutely loved the snowmobiling. Alban was a brilliant guide too. We can’t wait to come back and do it again!
Our small group of 4 people on 2 snow mobiles was instructed by our guide, Gaga, who soon assessed our driving and following of safety protocols as excellent; consequently he took us fast and deep into the forest. On the way back, we saw a group of about 30 snow mobiles! The best think about Safartica, is they’ll go out with a minimum of two in a group, and their maximum group size is not unwieldy. My partner was not confident with driving, so Gaga waited until we got to the flat, less bumpy tracks to swap us over (the other group swapped over at the half-way point after hot berry juice and cinnamon bun). She loved driving - and had sore shoulders that night! Highly recommended.
Lucky to have had a super nice French guide. Learning is very easy. Too bad there is not the possibility to go a little faster and do a little longer (when the cold is bearable)
Incredible experience on our last day in Finland! Guides were fantastic, and the experience was so much fun. Beautiful weather, beautiful views and really knowledgable helpful staff.
Sarriselkä or Saariselka, no matter how you spell it or pronounce it, ... It is a small, manageable place with hotels and small shops where you can relax and shop after a winter wonderland day 😃 Just adorable!!!
Have some experience on how to drive a snowmobile!!! A test drive beforehand is most important. It is not as easy as it looks and the snow is very deceiving. There was a terrible accident on our excursion due to total inexperience. This optional extra is labeled as an extreme sport with insurance companies. Let them know you are doing it beforehand or you will NOT be covered if an accident occurs.
