Description

Our family of four had a fantastic walking tour experience with Zachary. In fact, he changed my teen daughter’s entire view of walking tours from being strongly opposed to being a big fan. Zachary was very knowledgeable, personable, and really went above and beyond (holding our trash until we found trashcans, giving us travel recommendations, etc). Highly recommend!
It was a pleasure welcoming you! We hope the combination of food, local knowledge, and neighborhood stops gave you a worthwhile way to experience the city. Secret Food Tours was glad to be part of your visit.
Thank you Jamie Lasher for such a stellar experience in the Mission District! You were so present with us the entire afternoon, so incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the area and of the artists whose murals we viewed, so gracious to the two local residents who happened upon our tour with you and added their own knowledge of the murals to yours, a delight to learn from and talk with. Just a great, smart, kind, humble person with a gift for guiding us through the District, and a Bay Area native to boot! We have already recommended you to other friends and family and look forward to joining you on some of your other tours in the future.
We had a great time having you with us. Every group has its own energy, and it was a pleasure sharing the day with you. We hope there’s another Secret Food Tours experience in your future!
Dave was an absolutely phenomenal tour guide!! We've done numerous food tours in other cities, and he was certainly the best. The food was amazing and his knowledge of the area and history was impressive!!

Great way to experience culture of China Town & North Shore! Jamie was knowledgeable about food & local history.

Thank you for returning to share your thoughts. Secret Food Tours values every review because it reflects a guest's own perspective on the day. We look forward to welcoming you back!
Tour guide, Kristy, said this was her side gig and she didn't do it routinely..and it showed. She arrived at 11:10 for a schedule 11AM tour ( without the promised orange umbrella). Unlike past tours I've taken, this tour operator didn't seem to have a relationship with the eateries, so no reserved tables or cutting the line to order or even an awareness that we were coming. The 2 locations that did have seating, we the group scrambled to find tables/chairs. The other locations we were eating on the street. Kristy stood in line to order at each location. So, after arriving late, then standing in line for 10-15 minutes and returning with a small piece of cold focaccia bread with no beverage, the tour really didn't start until closer to 11:30. The only beveraged offered at any stop was tap water. 5 scheduled stops, 2 were bakeries & 1 was a chocolate shop, so not my idea of a "food tour". And, 1 of the bakeries was closed. According to a homeless person outside, the employees would be back shortly. Kristy continued with the tour doubling back about 10 minutes later, still closed. She took us to what she called the "backup" bakery, also closed. Kristy then asked the group what we should do, eventually she decided to skip the stop. This stop was a Mexican bakery and we'd passed other such open bakeries, so I can't understand why we didn't visit one of them. Kristy spent a fair amount of time on her phone. The tour took us by a Buddhist temple which Kristy talked about, but surprisingly not by the mission for which the neighborhood is named.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, Janelle. We appreciate hearing your perspective, as it helps us continue refining the experience we provide for our guests. Our tours are thoughtfully curated to showcase the best of the local food scene while giving guests a chance to discover the stories, culture, and character that make each neighborhood unique. Our guides are also known for their enthusiasm and passion for sharing the flavors and history of the city, so we're saddened to hear this particular experience did not reflect what we aim to deliver. We do appreciate your comments about the pacing, organization, and overall flow of the tour, as well as your observations about our guide's presentation. Feedback like yours is valuable as we continue to review and improve every aspect of the experience. We hope you'll consider joining us again in the future. We'd love the opportunity to provide the kind of experience that so many of our guests have come to know and enjoy.
Dominica was an amazing guide and the experience was filling in delicious food and wonderful culture content and knowledge about the city's history! Highly recommended for finding local eats while understanding the surrounding history of the area.
We loved having you with us! Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope you'll join Secret Food Tours again.
Jamie is a great guide, passionate about SF and knowledgeable of the Mission. Great food choices especially the chocolate. Highly recommended
We appreciate you sharing your thoughts. Your comments are valued by everyone on our team. We’d love to welcome you back to Secret Food Tours!
Jamie was great and has an extensive knowledge of San Francisco. We learned so much about the history of Chinatown and North Beach. Our only complaint was it could have been shorter. I specified that I didn’t eat red meat but at the house of Dim Sum I missed half the meal because it was meat based. It would have been nice to have something specific like other tour guides have done. He picked up buns at a bakery but forgot to share them till the end when we were too full to eat them! Since it was a 11am start it would have been nice to start with the expresso instead of ending with it.
Thank you for your review. We appreciate the opportunity to be part of your time in the city and we have noted your shared thoughts as we continuously look to refine the experience for all our guests. We’d love to welcome you back to Secret Food Tours.
