Vous imaginerez l’époque où ces bâtiments servaient d’écoles religieuses et de centres scientifiques, « lisaient » les parcelles des façades et profitaient simplement de la beauté du complexe. La mosquée Hazrat Khizr a été reconstruite au , remplaçant celle détruite au . La mosquée d'origine sur ce site remonte au VIIIe siècle et cette mosquée a été construite sur le site d'un temple zoroastrien. On verra de l'intérieur !
Le complexe commémoratif Shakhi-Zinda est l'un des mystérieux monuments architecturaux de Samarcande. On pense que c'est là que se trouve la tombe de Kusam ibn Abbas, un associé du prophète Mahomet lui-même. Nous verrons de l'extérieur !

Samarkand is a great city. This tour gives me a very good understanding about the city and its history. The length and the depth of the tour is appropriate for anybody. It is 4 hours tour and covering key historical sites in the city. If you decide to dive deeper, you can do so individually. Our tour guide, Samandar (Sam), even gave us overview of additional places to visit in Samarkand. I highly recommend this tour company for their professionalism. Special thanks to Sam for his knowledge sharing and kindness.

Very nice and extensive explanations about the history, culture and facts of the city. Sitora did a wonderful job as a guide. She had a folder with pictures to clarify stuff, and was open for any questions.

Pro: Our guide was a very enthusiastic student who loved history and very happy to share his knowledge in excellent English. Great insight we never would have had otherwise. Misunderstanding: We got to Registan Square and admired from outside. Guide said going in was not included, which he probably meant the entrance fee, which we realized not included, but we thought he meant there wasn't time on the program to go in. Tour was listed as 0900-1400. At noon we got to the last place and he declared tour was over. Didn't ask if we wanted to (pay) to go into Registan, which we would have, had we been asked. Con: Guide said disparaging things about the ethnic group I belong to, although he didn't know that. Made us feel uncomfortable.
