I paid for a full day itinerary. The guide took me to half the sites and said he would either take me to the reat of the sites in the evening or the next day for an extra $100, which he then came down to 70. He also tried to sell me an additional tour into the mountains for an additional cost before we even started our scheduled tour. In the guides defense, it sounds like maybe the company didnt communicate to him that I was supposed to have a full day tour. After completing the first half of the tour, I returned to my hotel to make sure that the mistake was not my fault. When I contacted the guide again, he said he didnt know and that he would complete the tour with me either that evening or the next day. I said that it would be nice to do it the next day, but received no more contact. I will say that the guide was pretty good for the half of the tour that I received. He was friendly, funny, and informative. He was even good to deal with through the confusion of the tour, but it sounds like there needs to be more specific communication between the company and their guides. I ended up visiting the additional sites on my own the next day.
I hesitated on leaving this review, but decided I would want to read this if I was considering booking The guide notified our hotel he would be late. Totally fine! There was a conference in town and traffic was awful. Great that he let us know of the delay. No big deal. Our guide was on his phone at least 50% of the time. Super irritating. Felt like we were disrupting his day. We were an afterthought. I was ready to end the tour and eat the cost within the first 30 minutes because his phone kept ringing and he kept answering and talking. My husband made a comment to him about it, and it improved (initially he was on the phone for 75% of the time), but still he spent half the tour on the phone. We paid (ALOT) extra for an included lunch, which was a waste of money. We could've stopped for lunch on our own for a fraction of the cost. Didn't help that the guide sat with us for lunch, but spent most of the time on the phone. Im sorry... it was not appropriate for him to yap on his phone while we were trying to eat lunch. Why bother sitting with us of you are on your phone? Good things: provide tour, car, visited many sites. I wish these things made the tour OK, but they didnt. I felt like we were a bother to the guide and he had better things to do. He asked us to leave a good review and I was just not going to leave one until my husband told me he confronted the gude within the first hour about being on the phone all time time. After my husband's comment He went from 75% on the phone to 50%, but it just wasn't enough. I regret spending the money on this tour.
Akram met me at the station right on time. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable. While showing us historical sites and museums, his insightful explanations made us feel like we were witnessing those times firsthand. We also visited historical paper and pottery workshops, as well as modern silk hand-woven carpet workshops, witnessing the production processes firsthand.
We had a great time on the Samarkand Ancient Silk Road City Tour. Our guide Nilofer and driver Samad picked us up right on time from our hotel. Both were incredibly warm, kind, and professional throughout the day. Nilofer shared so much knowledge about the history and culture of the city, and Samad drove us around safely and comfortably. There were so many beautiful and historic places to explore – definitely a must-do when in Samarkand!
A good experience and knowledgeable guide. But be aware that the prices for entrance to all the sites have increased dramatically.
After our Tashkent Tour, Tranquil Holidays organised our tour in Samarkand also. Akramanov our tour guide here in samarkand was superb. we enjoyed a full day across Registan Square and went to many amazing hot spots in Samarkand. Felt great
I’ve worked with a lot of travel agents over the years, but this one truly stood out. From the initial consultation to the final details of my trip, everything was meticulously planned. They took the time to understand my preferences and created an itinerary that perfectly matched what I was looking for. I never felt rushed, and any issues I had during the trip were immediately addressed. Their attention to detail and dedication made my vacation unforgettable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for an stress-free travel experience!
All of the sites were great. This is the best way to see the main historic features of Samarkand. My guide, Islom, was very friendly and good at explaining the history of each site. Very knowledgeable.
I recently visited Samarkand and the Registan Square was truly captivating, thanks to our guide Akram. The stunning madrasas, adorned with amazing tilework and soaring minarets, create a breathtaking atmosphere. Akram’s passion for the history and significance of the square brought its rich cultural heritage to life, sharing fascinating anecdotes that enhanced our experience. The vibrant mosaics and serene ambiance made this visit unforgettable, and I left in awe of Registan Square's beauty! We also had Lunch at Akrams Home in the Village. The Family is really really sweet. The Lunch option can be added upon request which is a must do.
