It was a lot of fun and our guide was very knowledgeable about the area and animals. We saw 3 crocs, several howler monkeys and lots of birds. Riding through the mangroves was beautiful.
This is a must do! We saw so many unique birds, as well as multiple crocodiles and monkeys. Ivan was the best tour guide and told us a lot of interesting facts about the Mangrove preserve. I can’t recommend this highly enough!
This tour takes guests on small boats through Las Baulas Marine National Park (next to Tamarindo.) Hotel pick-up and drop-off for our Tamarindo hotel was included. Drinks (soda, water, etc.) and fresh fruit were complimentary and offered to guests on the boat. The tour is rain or shine. The boat is covered but open, I would recommend bringing a poncho (just in case.) It poured on our tour but it was kind of magical being in the mangroves in the rain. Despite the weather, we saw monkeys, crocodiles, birds, etc. The tour lasted about 2 hours and was operated by Native's Way. Our guide was funny and also knowledgeable about the area and animals.
Not much wild animals to see but it’s relaxing ride and I enjoyed the scenery specially the monkeys and the crocodiles. The tour guide who is our pick up driver was not friendly at all.
Ivan was very knowledgeable and sweet. We saw monkeys, crocs, birds, crabs and a raccoon in the mangrove trees. Sodas, water provided. Pack a snack if you need one. Wear shoes you don’t mind getting wet as you enter/ exit the boat. Not a fast boat, it’s a nature watch.
The hotel pickup was prompt in the morning. They brought the boat fairly close to shore, so minimized our walking in water. Would still recommend water shoes for this tour. They did pull over and allow us all to get off the boat to go see howler monkeys. It was the highlight for us. We also saw crocodiles and several birds. Ivan was good about stopping and taking us to spotted wildlife.
I came to Costa looking for an adventure, this was recommended to me by somebody in the town, gotta see a few crocs.
Relaxing and exciting all at once. Tranquil setting, and then the crocodile is pointed out by our guide, Fabio. We watch as the crocodile slides quietly by. The birdsong is lovely, it's the early morning tour, and a nice way to wake up. Captain David picked us up exactly when he said he would, very kind and an excellent navigator through the estuary. He landed the boat where a short hike took us to the monkeys playing overhead. Herons landed on the water later. Pineapple slices were passed to our group, so refreshing. If youre thinking of this tour, book it!
It was a fun experience, Ivan and his ship mate both navigate the boat well and get into some pretty tight places. We saw a few small alligators. A couple of iguanas and some sleeping howler monkeys. I thought there would be more wildlife out there. But even on our rain forest tour it wasn’t quite the amount of animals I was expecting to see. Still a good trip and a good time. I would only recommend they get some floating seat cushions. Our butts were definitely ready to get out of those seats when we got back.
Thank you for your review! We're glad you had a fun time with Ivan and his crewmate and enjoyed spotting some of the wildlife along the way. Nature can be unpredictable, and every tour offers a different experience. We also appreciate your feedback about the seating and will certainly take it into consideration. Thanks for joining us, and we hope to see you again on another adventure!
It was really nice and we saw quite a bit of wildlife (croc, various bird species, howler monkeys, crabs, mangroves)
