Description

A wonderful experience of Victorian Excess!

The Pavilion is great. Parking is terrible, distant and expensive. The dragon theme is useful to keep children occupied.

Hidden gem

Friendly and informative staff with a brilliant array of exhibits on, some collaboration with UK museums too which is fave. It was also great to see the abba plaque being a bit of a fan! Cheap ticket prices and is an annual fee so Kerching!

Fantastic.

Ive had membership plus guest since November 2025 I thoroghly enjoy visiting the Royal Pavilion and Museum the staff are informative professional and courteous. Unfortunately on May 17th cerca 4pm I showed my digital pass to what would turn out to be the pedant Cathy Wilson. My ticket wasnt scanned with the barcode on my membership. I was informed my guest should also have a pass. Cathy was quite maticulous and fastidious about him not having one it took 15 minutes discussing as to why he didnt have one. As far as I could assertain it was the paper version which has the option to put the guests name. Being in the 21st Century I opted for the online application as much as I would rather be in the last decade. Its seems she is a possible luddite not using the barcode scan and seemingly behind the times with online applications. For those who have been through JFK entry this is a breaze and preferable to entry to Brighton Pavilion on this day. A few days later I spoke to the delightfull Katlin in the membership dept she ofered a complementary tour of under the Pavilion this turned out to be facinating the guide was super and engaging. Before the start of the tour we were first guided into the beautiful red room for a pre talk showing photos of the Pavilion years gone by. In the room was also Cathy Bates the Pedant receptionist she said - you both dont have to sit on the naughty boys row at the back. Had I not had the experience the previous week I would have taken it as intentded just an attempt at humour. Cathy Bates turned from Officious to a Jokester who would have thought it. Thankfully the tour didnt turn out to be a Misery. I will however in future try and avoid Cathy Bates if not I will go and have a glass of Don Perignon and a Marlboro Light. Ps apology for typo its Wilson not Bates.

Thank you for your continued support as a member and the feedback given about your experiences visiting the Royal Pavilion & Museum and the Under the Pavilion tour. We wanted to extend our apology that the digital membership process caused frustration during that first visit. We know we still have work to do in streamlining these new processes, so your feedback in that area is genuinely helpful. With regard to our highly valued team member, we respectfully ask that you remove her name from the post so that we can provide her with the privacy and protection she so rightly deserves. Thank you in advance, and we look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Must do!

This really is a must do when visiting Brighton. The place is genuinely stunning & so interesting. Make sure you get either one of their audio guides, or the one you download to your phone - you won't get such a good experience just wandering around. If you love dragons this is definitely the place for you! Nice gift shop at the end with beautiful items.

Not worth the money

Very disappointed, no information in any rooms all but a tad here and there . Its a con to charge nigh on £20 pp to get in, and if you want to know anymore the headsets you also pay more for... You won't be seeing us again.

Thank you for your review and apologies your visit was unsuccessful. I am sorry you feel that interpretation inside the Royal Pavilion does not meet your expectations, however, as a historic building, it can be tricky to meet everyone's wishes/requirements and hit a balance, in terms of signage, display information and language provision. Our new exhibitions 'Dragons' will be open on 28 March, running throughout the year, and includes a Dragon trail for families and younger visitors (or those with an imaginative sense of adventure!) Whilst we anticipate many visitors into the Royal Pavilion before this exhibition opens, we don't wish to disappoint. With this last point in mind, I want to make it clear that Visitor Services Offers are on hand across the site to answer any questions a visitor may have, and interact with the general public. I hope we see you again, albeit at another one of our many sites across the city.
