Itinéraire
Notre aventure commence par une prise en charge à votre hôtel, puis nous nous dirigeons vers le parc national du volcan Pacaya. Le trajet dure environ 1 h 30 à 1 h 45. À votre arrivée, vous pourrez vous dégourdir les jambes ou aller aux toilettes avant de commencer la randonnée avec votre guide.
À l'arrivée, l'ascension commence avec un guide local, à travers une vaste zone boisée. Explorez les sentiers de la zone volcanique, en admirant les vues sur les autres volcans ainsi que la végétation régionale tout au long du chemin. Une fois arrivé sur le plateau, contemplez le cratère principal du volcan à distance. Observez la lave en relation avec l'activité du volcan et les bains de vapeur créés par la chaleur du volcan Pacaya. Après avoir profité des vues spectaculaires sur les volcans Agua, Fuego et Acatenango depuis le sommet du Pacaya, entamez la descente vers le pied du volcan avant de reprendre le bus pour Antigua. Le trajet retour prendra 1 heure et demie.

Il s'agit d'une excursion en groupe ; veuillez vous présenter au point de rendez-vous convenu quelques minutes avant l'heure prévue. Le bus peut arriver avec quelques minutes d'avance ou de retard, en fonction de la circulation et de l'itinéraire. Nous proposons une prise en charge à l'hôtel et à certains points de rencontre du centre d'Antigua. Veuillez noter que nous n'effectuons pas de prise en charge en dehors d'Antigua ni dans les villes ou municipalités limitrophes. Si vous séjournez dans un Airbnb, veuillez nous envoyer l'adresse afin que nous puissions vérifier s'il est possible de venir vous chercher sur place ou à proximité. OMG this was so much fun. Carlos was a wonderful guide. My friend and I ended up taking the horses but kudos to those who could do the hike up themselves lol. Highly recommend!
Great fun with great tour guides. Being the oldest in the hiking group tour guide kept an eye on me.
Don't be cheap...hire the horses! You're helping the local economy. Emilio and Armando were awesome horse guides at the site.

This could be difficult if you are not in a good shape or can’t run 8 miles. The men with horses walk with you anyways even if you say no, ans they know you’ll give in. Eventually most of the people in our group gave in and took the horses. They charge about Q350 from the bottom and from the middle. Walk down is easy through a different route. Make sure you are booking round trip or one way in the horse if you are planning to. The ride in the horse is fun and is easy. Keep a disposable poncho just in case as it rained heavily while we were there at the top. The guide was ok, the overall experience was good. The guide will keep looking at you to see why you are slowing down. The heat from the volcano to burn marshmallows were just warm. The drive from Antigua to Pacaya is very windy and motion sickness was there for 1-2 people. Shoes can get real dirty- keep wipes if you care. Shoes needs good grip.
Fantastic experience! Our tour guides Roberto and Lillian were informative, funny and overall great. Punctual pickup. We got poured on while walking down the volcano and even that was fun. Highly recommend
It is very steep and rocky on the way up. It was fun though and the view was beautiful at the top. We roasted marshmallows as well! I did this before Acatenango and think it helped a lot with adjusting to the altitude!
The hike was nice, if you can find another way to get there and do self paced I would do that. They rush you the entire time on the way up to get more people to rent the horses, the horses will follow you the entire way up and every time you stop for even a second they’ll be on you to rent a horse or tell you there’s more left to go than there actually is. I’m not used to altitudes that high, I would’ve appreciated being able to catch my breath without the harassment. You’re only at the top for about 10 min as well but then on the way down there is no rush at all. The dust on the way up is crazy, especially if any of the horses are in front of you. If your allergies are bad I would take something before hand or bring any protective face/nose guards.
This half-day is a nice little day hike to take as a part of your experience of Antigua, Guatemala. If you've never seen a volcano before, Pacaya is a great experience to see in person.
