A wonderful hike with our great guide (forgot her name (something like Nadine?) but there can’t be too many friendly and bubbly ladies from Germany as guides there). Waterfall was great stop for lunch and cooling off. Abandoned village special to see. A wonderful day in the Azores and a highlight for sure!
Beautiful walk to reach the waterfall and recharge with a picnic, ending the day in Sanguinho. A perfect day.
Due to airline travel issues we couldn’t make this hike and were past the cancellation timeline. In spite of that they made every effort to reschedule the hike later in the week. When that fell through they still gave us a refund. Can’t say anything about the hike, but their customer service is outstanding!!
Our small group of 4 had a wonderful adventure exploring Sao Miguel. We wanted to compliment our lovely tour guide Susanna from picos de aventura tour company. Over the last several days, Susanna has been an exceptional, highly skilled tour guide. She should be celebrated for her deep local knowledge of history, culture, and nature. She is welcoming, confident, and very friendly. Susanna is organized, attentive, and articulate. When she is not hosting clients, it is very obvious she is preparing and studying to supplement her knowledge of Azores. She was also able to adapt our plans based on weather and personal preferences. She was a very safe, responsible, and competent driver. In additional to her remarkable professionalism, Susanna has a wonderful personality and a great sense of humour. She is a very special person. We were very fortunate to have Susanna as our tour guide. We would highly recommend Susanna to all visitors. Thank you very much.
We enjoyed the hike to the waterfall and old village. The scenery was beautiful despite the rain during part of the hike. Philippe provided historical knowledge to help fill in the story of this beautiful island and did a wonderful job!
It was ok. Lots of driving for a short hike. Nice countryside. Colourful chicken in the way. Waterfall looks nice, we were unlucky to see murky water that day. Overall I would not say this your is a must… There are very many tours packed with local attractions. I suggest to add some other attractions to that day/tour to make it more appealing.
This is a very interesting walk of medium difficulty. Walking poles are useful. Our guide was very informative and knowledgeable, she drove us very competently and took us to several view points on the way back. Thank you.
Nice, easy to follow trail that's a loop and I suggest going left and getting the majority of the climbing done first and finishing through an old village that's mostly downhill on a stone pathway. Several waterfalls are visible and the largest one at the 1/2 way point.
I had a great time on the tour with Joao as our guide. It was as advertised, and Joao was quite knowledgeable and friendly to all of us guests. The waterfall and hike up to Sanghuino were lovely, and the scenery was stunning. As an experienced back country hiker, this was a fairly popular trail on the weekend and kind of crowded in the afternoon. I bet earlier in the morning and during the week might present less busy options for this beautiful trail and waterfall.
A nice excursion, with moderately challenging hiking. The waterfall was amazing and the view along the way hard to beat. Don't miss this if you visit the Azores ❤️
